I got this for $2 and it works decent. I will clean it up and make a video of it. I can't find the model number on this machine , and whats the story behind this model?

Brings back memories…our old green GE floor polisher was the first floor care machine I was actually allowed to use plugged in! I learned to polish our linoleum kitchen floor from a very young age…maybe 4 or 5 years old.

I was always taught to store the polisher on its front face with the brushes facing towards you. That way they would not get bent while stored in our front closet.

GE used this design well into the 80s I believe. I have seen them in chrome and also with plastic bodies.

I have a single brush GE model that's turquoise. It only has the brush that came with it and it was flattened from being stored flat on the floor. It had a moving van tag on it from the 60s and it's probabaly been sitting for that long. I bought it cheap to use to clean my basement laundry room concrete floor and it works very well.

Awesome addition to your collection! I presume that it's a rarer model FP-1 (likely stamped on the metal either on the back of the hood or on the base under the brushes). The chrome model FP-5 with green trim can more easily be found online. Anyway, it was marketed concurrently with the models U-1 Twin Power upright, C-4 Swivel-Top & R-1 Roll-Easy in the late 1950s. Aeoliandave posted a catalog page, and I located a December 1958 BETTER HOMES & GARDENS ad that I have re-posted below.
