Over the past 2 weeks you all may have noticed I've been lax in my posts and responses. Well I've been away in South Carolina watching over Grandmom while Mom and Dad were out of town. Since last January, Mom, Dad and Grandmom have consolidated 3 houses into one in a new move towards warmer weather in a more wide open space ranch house that is wheelchair and walker friendly. With that move came their Hoovers. Well its been about a year so it was time during my visit to do a cleaning, check up and servicing for all, along with utilizing all of the machines for a thorough house cleaning and rug shampooing.

So enjoy and follow along with me as I show the prides and joys of these wonderful cleaning machines that I've had the privilege of growing up with. Using, cleaning and 2 were mine personally for a while.

First here's me shampooing the guest room in my dirty junky clothes. Yes I'm a little wet still on my shirt from cleaning bathrooms prior to shampooing. This is also how you'd pose while shampooing when the camera snaps when you have a 6 brush 14" wide cleaning path, 12 Amp motor, full gallon tank, dual headlights, automatic tool conversion, bare floor squeegee, air turbine hand tool, upholstery nozzle, 31' foot, 8' hose powerful deep cleaning Hoover Steamvac Widepath F6030-900 sucking down and scrubbing into your rugs!!

Full Size F6030-900

This shampooer was purchased in late 2003 and has done an excellent job cleaning our rugs over the years!! No parts have ever broken or needed replacing.

Those words can't be said for the Bissell Big Green Powerbrush 1680 which this unit replaced and may not have lasted as long!!

HOLY POWER NOZZLES BATMAN!!!! What is the world coming to??

Left to right. Hoover Windtunnel Plus S3639, Hoover PowerMax Deluxe S3608, Hoover PowerMax Deluxe S3607, Hoover PowerMax Runabout S3614, Hoover TurboPower 5000 S3577.

The Windtunnel power nozzle uses belt 38528-036 and the others use Hoover Genuine belt 38528-011.

Please only use Genuine Hoover belts with proper model number for your power nozzles. They will work MUCH BETTER AND LAST LONGER AND SOUND BETTER.

I just love the PURRR of all of these!!

We're cleaned and serviced!! YAY!!

Our brushes are clean, our agitator bearings are clean and greased, our motors look and sound great!!

Oh but wait, Rob used all of us to clean this big house which he has personally never had the opportunity to vacuunm before so we found lots of dirt!! We helped him prepare the carpets for a thorough carpet shampooing so we also explored some foreign territories underneath night tables and under furnishings that we don't usually have the opportunity to groom.

Behold---2 days following this photo all power heads had agitators washed again and cavities wiped out for the second time this week. All power nozzles are pronounced clean again!!

Hoover Dimension 1000 S3277

Suction unit Hoover Dimension 1000 S3277 purchased around 1986. The Quadraflex Powermatic for this died years ago. Cord reel spring is broken, tool door is missing a large fragment and front swivel wheel is missing otherwise this suction unit works flawlessly. It is mostly kept in the attic as a backup. As you can see my parents have plenty of other machines to choose from for their single story ranch house. All of which are lighter weight than these magnificently built heavy duty machines.

Power nozzle is off of a Hoover TurboPower 5000 S3577 canister. This particular model Hoover Turbo Power 5000 S3577 would have been based off and virtually the same machine as a Futura Supreme S3569 navy blue canister. The Turbo Powers however were primarily service dealer only and also Sears and Strawbridges had them. They carried a 2 year warranty. Machine was purchased in May 1998. Suction has been parted out to repair other units after its cord reel broke around 2005. It was the least powerful of the machines so it became a back up/ parts donater. However, don't be fooled by my description. Despite not being as powerful as its cousins in the PowerMax division these were still kick Butt machines. In my opinion they outcleaned the Eureka World Vac 6865 which in 1996 Consumer Reports rated the World Vac as "Excellent" for carpet deep cleaning and the Futuras and PowerMax were rated "Very Good" for carpet deep cleaning.

The 2 prong cord on this power nozzle makes it flexible enough to be used on any of the 5 canisters pictured above.

Hoover Windtunnel Plus S3639

This is one, that all of you watching my posts have seen before. It's the same machine just a fresh closer up photo.

This Hoover Windtunnel Plus S3639 was purchased by me to replace my parents 3 year old red Kenmore Progressive 25513 which I sold. The Kenmore wasn't doing the job and had been to Sears Service department 2x in 3 years before being sold. It also spent about 8 months in storage during that time, as it didn't take long once we got the Kenmore to realize we didn't like it compared to our other Hoovers.

The Hoover S3639 Windtunnel Pluw WAYYY outcleans the Progressive in my mind. The Kenmore had nicer rubber coated wheels though.

Hoover PowerMax Runabout S3614

This Hoover was a Kmart exclusive but also became available at many Hoover Sales & Service centers. To my knowledge with exception of the PowerMax Ultra series which had a variable speed motor, this was the only PowerMax canister at the time with on/off switch for agitator and belt view window. The PowerMax Deluxe models did not have those features.

This machine was purchased in 2001. The tool door is not original, it is from a Hoover Windtunnel air turbine hand tool canister. Sadly this machine has seen lots of abuse from former house cleaners. It works and cleans great, but the nozzle connection has a lot of play and the power nozzle runs a little louder than the others.

Hoover PowerMax Deluxe S3607

This Hoover was purchased by me for my college apartment in October 2001. Since that time it some how ended up with my sister and her X-Fiance used to clean under their leaking dishwasher before the new one arrived. He killed the motor and now the motor from the Turbo Power 5000 canister is in here.

I took the power nozzle from this back with me to PA, since technically its mine. I left my parents the suction unit since its their S3577 motor in it. Attachment door is missing. Years ago a college roomate damaged the original hose. So I replaced it with an upgrade hose that has the on/off switch for agitator on the handle.

The predecessor model to this S3610 did have an on/off switch for agitator and was the same color Deep wine.

Hoover PowerMax Deluxe S3608

This machine was purchased in 2004. Notice it has the see through style bag lid just like the blue Hoover Windtunnel S3639 or brother blue PowerMax Deluxe S3606--which I hope to find some day.

Notice the difference in power nozzle stickers compared to the previous PowerMax Deluxe S3607. Also this machine has an accordian on the power nozzle cord where it exits the power head in-order to reduce the chance of fraying at that site.

This machine is used the most by my parents. I just installed new carbon motor brushes for the suction unit this past week.

Wow that's quite a collection of Hoover canister's! I have a green PowerMax Supreme 850 which my Aunt bought from Service Merchandise in 1993, and the blue brother to your PowerMax Deluxe S3606 model which I got at Goodwill for $14.99. I think there great cleaners and the power nozzle's really groom the carpet.

Very nice!  I would love to acquire one of those pre-Chinese Hoover canisters someday.  I once had a Celebrity with a Quadraflex power nozzle, but gave it away when I moved last year.  I could kick myself for that too!  It was a great vacuum (although it didn't filter well).

Lovely Hoovers Rob!

Best thing about these canisters = Hoover's great little bare floor brush with the single brush strip down the middle stores right on board all of them!

Worst thing about them = suction relief valve is on the wand. For those models without an electronic motor speed adjustment, you are forced to use one of the wands if you want to have a way to reduce suction on furniture and other above the floor items....what was Hoover thinking? Couldn't the suction relief have been placed in the hose handle like Eureka had done?

I am also curious about the off-side wand connection to some of the power nozzles - any comments on whether this made the nozzle awkward to use?

Great photo spread, Rob - well done. :-)

I love using these power nozzles. I notice no problems with the connection being off to the far side and not in the middle. I received an explanation one time of why they did that, something about aerodynamics.

Ryan1994Jeep. The Red PowerMax Deluxe canister above with see through bag lid is model S3608. The Blue PowerMax Deluxe canister with see through lid as you describe would be S3606. These were available up to around 2005. Both of these models have the revised sticker on power nozzle plate from previous Hoover PowerMax canisters. Both would have 9.3Amp motors, no belt view window no on/off switch for agitator.

A dark navy blue Hoover PowerMax could PowerMax Supreme would be S3603 or S3611. However those machines would be 1997 area. Both models would have covered tool storage, storage/ carrying hook on lower chrome wand for attaching to canister, just as seen on Windtunnel canisters. They would also hoave: micro post motor filter, agitator on/off switch in hose handle, belt view windows, 9.8 Amp motors and Hoovers Cleaning Effectiveness Per Amp ratings of 12.0. The Supreme model S3611 which was really more of an emerald green I believe would have on/off switch for entire unit in hose handle along with variable speed electronic motor control.

The previous PowerMaxs with number prefixes: 850 etc. I know nothing about and really need a history lesson on this era. I would be about 10 years old during that time period and knew nothing about what was on the market from any company yet had interest!!

Love your Dimension 1000

I also have that same model, S3277, for which i not only have the original power nozzle, but also a dark blue Powermax nozzle which coordinates very well with the canister's dark blue trim.

Here is a photo of mine, with the original power nozzle.
