I own both machines & have to say I'll never use anything else. When I just clean tile floors, I use the FloorMate. On carpet cleaning day, I use the Steam Vac on every surface. Which do U think is better on tile? The Steam Vac uses more water than the FloorMATE when I wash tile floors; but the water is less dirty than when I use FM. I wish the Steam Vac (mine's the 5-brush) had hard floor SpinScrub brushes & a better squeegee instead of the plastic/foam strip that goes over the nozzle.

btw, I use the Floormate ONLY for floor washing; I use the TriStar to dry vacuum first.

Can the FM be used on carpet?

I just invested in a Shark Steamer, just a basic BOL model, and I'm hooked! I used to use the original SpinScrub FloorMate, but now I use the steamer all the time. It is just easier and quicker for me. But when I want a good deep clean, I'll crack out the FloorMate

why can't I use FloorMate on carpet? My kids spilled spaghetti on the living room carpet & I wonder if its easier than picking up the mess with paper towel?

Thumbs up for Steam Mops

I have used Steam mops but personally have stood by my Hoover Floormate, due to the scrubbing and suction pick up. But I just orded a new Hann basic steam Mop.
I have kitchen, hall and dinning area in laminate wood. Have borrowed a steam mop twice just to try it out. It is just so much less work, then Floormate, emptying, filling and the noise and cleaning solution. Just water, a clean pad and away you go. Every area is clean quick and easy. Now with childrens messes, it may not be as easy. With a 3 adult home, the Steam Mop takes it !

I should've bought a FloorMate w/tools (FH40030) instead of the one w/o tools (FH40010) I'd rather have a H3060 FloorMate b/c of its 15" Widepath & tools more neatly organized; unlike the FH40030 which the tools are in a bag. The only thing I don't like about the FloorMATE (w/tools) is it doesn't have a SpinScrub tool for tight spaces & above floors.

I use both a floor mate, which I love, as well as a steam mop. Granted the Steam Mop is quicker and easier. So I find that I use that for two to three weeks but then I like to scrub the floors on every 2 to 3 weeks with the floor mate. As good as my steam mop is, the floors do not gleam like they do after the floor mate.

Mine is pictured just after today's use in preparation for my Mother's visit (which requires the heaviest artillery (LOL). I have the tools and they DO work. Very nice for getting in tight spaces and around the toilet (which btw my steamer does not fit around).

FloorMate H3050

That's a rare mdl FloorMate! Until the FH40030 came out; now they're more common. Currently I use either a mop/bucket or a Floor-A-Matic (profile pic) or Steam Vac (when I also have to wash carpets too)
