Mark40511, The Sebo Felix has an option for a 9' extension hose that the guy included with my purchase. The hose on the vac itself is around 6', so add on the 9' extension and it works like you describe. The Sebo will lay completely flat so no worries about tipping!

May have found the part I think I identified the part - called a detent spring. I found a place to order one but can't really see in the diagram where it goes. (and what it does.)

Looks more like part 16 in that diagram Picture attached. The red arrow is pointing to where a small piece broke off of this part. About 1/4" of that end.

I am kinda obsessed with the chrome model. I watched a video of someone using one, (QS model) and he showed that when you choose bare floor on the power nozzle, it doesn't lift the roller up. Rather it drops something else down through a slot. So now I'm worried about scratching up my floor more...
