WTB dusting/upholstery tool For Elux tan model G

Greetings all,   I have a tan Elux model G that is lacking its dusting upholstery tool. Please let me know if you have a clean one for sale that still has good bristles. Thanks.   Joel

    Personal Experiences with Vacuum Lifespans

Two new ones since 1990, no stats yet I purchased a Eureka The Boss upright in 1990, about the time I started fixing up and donating vacs to thrift stores. Because of the inflow and outflow of vacs, I didn't keep the Eureka long enough to wear it out. Since then I've purchased two new vacs, a...

    Electrolux HEPA bags

Aerus bag subscription ! Seriously? What homeowner could fill 24 bags in three months? That's about two bags a week. I have three cats, and even with all their fur to pick up, bags last a lot longer for me than that. Just sayin'. FWIW, Amazon currently sells the 9-packs of Clean Obsessed type...

    free FITLER QUEEN 700

I'll add my congrats I'd write "nice find" but it kinda found you! I love my pink 2-speed model 31. It makes a great vac for my model train room. Low speed is perfect for layout scenery work, and if I suck up something by mistake, it's easy to retrieve it. Not having a curved hose handle makes...

    Electrolux xxx Bearings

I agree too I definitely would service your motor. Cleaning and fresh lube should ready it for many more years of service. Even if the bearings are noisy, with fresh grease they may last for years. I once had a postwar XXX with a noisy rear bearing that I chose not to replace because it still...

    Reviving a 2/13/2008 Thread from lux1521- "Hose Stuck" in a 1205 canister

Boy I'll say I echo Rugsucker's post about not re-using a hose that won't release after you press the buttons to release the locking tabs. Been there with an aftermarket hose that I promptly discarded when it took a small army to get the hose to uncouple.

    VACUUM AMERICA CLEAN type c

They will keep your motors cleaner I am a big fan of this and other brands of type C HEPA bags. They will keep out of your vacs' motors dust that even genuine 4-ply paper bags won't. A vac shop operator told me in the late 1960s that Electrolux has the dirtiest motors in the industry. Decades...

    Cleaning up after the tree

Tree needle clogs Hi all, as a kid I became frantic when tree needles would clog the hose of our E'lux model E. My parents ran theirs without the after filter, so all the upper harmonics of the motor were clearly audible and sent me into hysterics. Fortunately placing the hose into the blower...

    OK I'm a nerd and a geek but . . .

And here's mine Amazingly, the original hose is still airtight, albeit stiff. Someone did a great job polishing the attachments. I think this one saw little use, because the wands are really clean without all the scratches they normally accumulate over time.

    OK I'm a nerd and a geek but . . .

. . . I just scored an E'lux 475-watt XXX motor. I've owned several model XXXs as an adult. My parents had an early postwar XXX with flat skids, a saloon door, and a 475-watt motor. I wanted the sound and vibe of the original motor. In the past few days I won such a motor on eBay. I bid based on...

    dream vac in the thrift

Great for you! I bought the same model last summer, to clean the cushions of our screened porch furniture of cat hair. Tape and manual "one-way" brushes failed. My E'lux Sidekick does the job but what a hassle dragging the whole setup out there. The 501 does a fantastic job on the cushions, as...

Help with a hoover 700 motor.

Running unloaded Fortunately motors of this era run much slower than today's, so IMO it is unlikely that running unloaded briefly will damage it (and the video seems to bear that out.) I determined that the fundamental frequency (pitch) of the motor in the video on high is about equal to F...

Fantom Fury 12 Amp Motor arcing

Oh, that doesn't look good! Arcing from worn brushes is one thing, but arcing all the way around the commutator is never good. To my understanding it means shorted armature windings, which would explain its running hot. If you can, check the motor's current draw. It's probably above normal. Joel

    shes here my Olympia one

Best bags to use Per Tom G.'s prior endorsement, I highly recommend the Clean Obsessed HEPA type C bags for this vacuum. I use them in all of my vintage E'lux vacs that will take them. IMHO they are far superior to paper bags. They filter better and can be filled to capacity without losing a...

    Old Things

GE Swivel Tops Did all the GE swivel tops have a 750-watt, reverse-flow motor? Years ago I had a model V11C65 (centered swivel top) with such a motor. Just wondering.   Joel

    Hepa Tristar and Compact bag

I can corroborate I was never happy with one-ply factory bags, they always lost suction. More recently I tried micro-lined bags but the inner layer always tore, negating its benefits. These HEPA bags are the only ones I've ever been able to fill completely with no noticeable loss of suction. I...
