    Bissell motor disassembly

If anyone is curious I was wrong, the rolled edge is just part of the fan case. I used a hammer and screwdriver to tap it off, it's just friction. Motor runs great now (as good as this cheap Bissell motor can anyway).

    Centralux exhaust inside or outside

I forgot to mention, my plan is to dump the bin straight into the garbage can outside, not a big deal. I can wash the filter in the basement sink.

    Centralux exhaust inside or outside

@panasonicvac thanks for your info and positive post, I'm new to collecting central vacs. I left a pic of the final install. The video you linked to is also the E130A which is the same as my model. I took the motor all apart today and cleaned out the fans, they weren't very dirty. The carbon...

    Centralux exhaust inside or outside

Not many fans of cyclonic systems here, I just finished installing the exhaust outdoors. I like not having to buy bags. Bearings are in excellent shape also. I prefer the bypass motor compared to the flow-thru motor that my Hoover had.

    Centralux exhaust inside or outside

I think I will vent it outside, it shouldn't be that much work. I grew up with a Soluvac, which is a very similar cyclonic system but with no filter whatsoever. There was a pre-motor screen that needed cleaning every couple years.

    Centralux exhaust inside or outside

I just bought a used Electrolux Centralux to replace my low end Hoover. The Hoover does not exhaust outside nor does it have the ability to. Since the Centralux has a tangential bypass motor it can be exhausted outside. My question is, is it necessary? I'd have to run tubing and drill through...

Remove permanent marker stain Hoover 28

Drawing over the permanent marker with a dry erase marker has helped me in the past, but I'm not sure it'll work for something that has been on there for years or decades.

    Differences of Electrolux PN5, 6 and 7

I should mention both the motor and the brush turn freely by hand, and I added some oil to the motor bearings anyway.

    Differences of Electrolux PN5, 6 and 7

Thanks for the info, not sure why I missed this post earlier. That table is a handy summary. I didn't realize some models had fixed rear wheels. Another question while we're talking about lux PNs, I have a PN6 and the on/off switch seems a bit flaky. It doesn't always turn on, but will if I...

    Eureka Ironsides

Thanks for the info! I googled Vactronics and that's definitely it. It's pretty powerful, and the power nozzle is really effective.

    Eureka Ironsides

Was wondering if the experts here could identify this Beaumark vac. Beaumark was the house brand of The Bay in Canada. I know it's a Eureka, and sure looks like an Ironsides. Anyone know the rough age of it? My guess is late 80s early 90s, the model is 98603 and serial is 141008118.

    Electrolux xxx Bearings

I would agree. I just repacked the bearing in my Electrolux LE, which is decades newer. As long as the bearing has a rubber shield (or perhaps no shield?) it will be possible to clean and repack. I used WD40 to clean the hard grease and dirt out, and then put fresh grease in and popped the...

    Silver Infused HEPA bags

Sorry to say, but colloidal silver is snake oil bunk, and placebo effects are not evidence. Silver can have some medical uses, but not taken orally. Could silver coated HEPA bags be helpful? Maybe, there'd need to be some scientific evidence before I'd believe it...

    Favorite vintage canisters

Here's the LE I fixed. Cleaned up pretty well. Replacement hose of course.

    Favorite vintage canisters

Hoover Constellations are classic too! They were cool. I should have got pictures but I just picked up a Lux LE from the 80s. It was in rough shape. The owner was running it without a bag I think (the bag switch was gone, and the auto full bag stop was bypassed also). Anyway it sounded horrible...

    Favorite vintage canisters

Was curious of everyone's favorite vintage canisters. I'm an Electrolux fan myself, a couple family members had them when I was a kid so the nostalgia is strong. They always sounded so nice, and the PNs have a unique growl sound, likely from the cogged belt. I have an AP280 and an Ambassador 3...

    Bissell motor disassembly

I'll start by saying I know these motors were never meant to be serviced/disassembled, but I want to try for the fun of it. I've seen Vaclab on youtube refurbish a few Bissell motors with new bearings and I wanted to try. This one's bearings are utterly destroyed. The problem is this one looks a...

    Central vacuum recommendations.

I like the Canavac Signature series, though I'm not sure if they're available in the US. I like Vacuflo and Husky as well.

    Central vacuum recommendations.

Where I am in Canada it seems at least 75% of homes have a central vac. If you really want to exhaust outside, then yeah a central vac is what you'll need. For cleaning performance though, something to consider is the loss of airflow from a central vac. The suction (water lift) is really high...

    Differences of Electrolux PN5, 6 and 7

I did a search and found a couple good threads, but I'm still unclear on all the differences between the 5, 6 and 7 power nozzles. They're all L-shaped, but what change caused the move from PN5 to 6, and then 6 to 7? I know each model had various versions (ie colors, with or without the switch...
