Wanted: Kirby 500505 4 row 13” brush roll

Recently my dual 80 broke a brush roll (some kind of clip behind an end cap broke on one side) and now the brush is running unbalanced and uneven. It’s a NOS brush (gray color) purchased 2 years ’m looking to not just replace it, but also upgrade from 2 rows to 4 rows for better cleaning.

    Sanitaire sc679J for sale!

Bought this bad boy for a BARGAIN, and it’s been cleaned up with a new VG II and new cord hooks (one was missing, the other was busted. (Yes, I know I look disorganized/cluttered, but it’s organized chaos)...

back room vacs-You restore or use parts or I scrap

I refurbish vacuums for fun and to make a little money. Typically I go for commercial, high quality, and vintage machines. I’m curious. How much for the guardsman and how much for the brown vintage Kirby? Also am looking for the following hard to find Kirby parts: 561 original bag with hanger...

Kirby legend II with a stuck fancase screw

A while back, I managed to get the fan off, but it required me to get creative. I used vise-grip pliers to hold the fan in place (had to rotate the fan until the lever touched the hood), then, with the field removed, I put an oven mitt on and held the armature in place. And then, with a small...

Kirby legend II with a stuck fancase screw

Update I managed to free the screw using a torx head hammered in. Now I’ve got a fan shaft that won’t come off. Even with the fan held in place, the armature still turns. WD40 didn’t work in this case, and neither do vise-grip pliers. I’d heat it with a torch, but I don’t want to melt the fan.

    dirty nasty kirby on ebay

My Dual Sanitronic 80 was in the exactly the same if not very similar condition! I paid $20 for my Kirby which was on an OfferUp listing titled “vacuum.” The thing ran excellently and needed no more than a brand new belt to get it running again! How ANYBODY could even think about charging $195...

Kirby legend II with a stuck fancase screw

Went shopping at my local goodwill last week and picked up a $10 Kirby Legend 2 hoping to clean it up, put a amodel (not Kevlar as it’s often mistaken) fan in it (for increased durability), polish it, and sell it off. But during my initial inspection, I noticed something off: small stripped...

Cheap metal Royal for the right home

Up for sale is a sadly abused but working royal preferred collection. When I found it, it wasn’t too bad, but that quickly evolved into “this is the worst condition vacuum I’ve ever seen.” Screws had to be drilled through, the fan won’t come off, there’s a laundry list of issues and stuff I’ve...

Vibra groomer 2 not going back together

Well, after managing to free the brush strips that felt like they were superglued from a sanitaire’s brush roll, I struggled to put the new ones in because they kept losing the groove. Then came time for reassembly, and here I sit dumbfounded. I got a brush roll dowel that’s not sitting flush...

Goodwill find 3 Speed Hoover Quik Broom II

I went to goodwill yesterday to see what I could find, and I ended up finding an old vintage Hoover Stick broom. I’ve mostly cleaned it out (about 95%, there’s still a little stubborn crud I couldn’t remove with dawn or mister clean). I tested it today. It’s loud, and the fan is rubbing up...

    Kirby Sanitronic For Sale

Would you be willing to partially trade disassembled for disassembled? I’ve got a royal I’m trying to get rid of but I’ve had no takers, and need to get rid of it soon before it becomes clutter (and so I can focus my efforts on restoring the 561 I have.

What is your favorite brand that still uses old designs?

Ah, that’s a shame. I wonder why Hoover still has it on its commercial website under some of the industries though. Sad to see the guardsman be discontinued, but at least it had a VERY long run (starting back as the convertible)! I hope that some company at least took over production of those...

    WTS Sanitronic

Would you be open to at least partly trading a working but abused and disassembled Royal 3000 for your disassembled Sanitronic? I’ve got a 561 I can also include in my offer that has what looks to be a DIY bag conversation if you want to do a full trade. It’s just missing the bulb and headlight...

What is your favorite brand that still uses old designs?

Hoover still has the guardsman listed on the commercial website, but I’m guessing it’s a special order. So they count (even if the guardsman isn’t widely sold anymore). Kirby’s another one that I know that still uses an old design. Although they have modernized the design of the machine, it’s...

    Kirby Sanitronic 80

The D80 is indeed a great machine! I got mine for $20 off offer up, it had no shine to it. And all it needed in order to run was a new belt! The cord had the insulation torn. Although I ordered a replacement off Amazon, I was sent the wrong cord, and held off on replacing it. The machine didn’t...

Abused Royal model 3000 begging for a new home

Tyler, the machine runs, it just is in poor shape and impossible to tear down due to stuck screws and a stubborn fan. I can put a belt and brush in it, and it’ll be ready, but beyond that, there’s not much I can do about all the rust.
