    Riccar 8955 Brushroll bristle length?

Missed the return deadline. No box to ship... It's mine now. It's an OK vac except for cord (no biggie) power switch (working) & brush strips a $20 fix. I'll use it as my beater.

    Riccar 8955 Brushroll bristle length?

Took The Simplicity 7350 Brush Roller Apart The red brush strips came out easy. Washed them all up & disinfected with alcohol. They are close to 10.3mm & in good condition. I think I can get them inside the other brush roll. It saves me $20. I cut my finger on the side of the brushroll opening...

    Riccar 8955 Brushroll bristle length?

Seems they sell same brush roll Same brush roll for Riccar 8900 series & Simplicity 700 series It ships with 10.3mm brush strips so that must be able to be used on the 8955 Riccar. Now not sure if 9mm or 19.3 mm is better it's less than 2 mm so really not a big deal. Still the ones on my...

    Riccar 8955 Brushroll bristle length?

Curious of Value I originally paid $150 plue $20 (not bad) shipping. I imagine he paid more for that even if we are in CA. The condition did not list 3 extensive removals of the outer cord cover so we agreed upon a refund of $35 for the cord. So that's $115 + $20= $135 Now there is an...

    Riccar 8955 Brushroll bristle length?

Thanks I can't see any entry to the switch. I took the cap off the top to smooth it as it was sticking out of the box & got cut so there was a sharp edge. That's ok now $20 brush strips is not bad as the brushroll is fine. If the switch cover is not a big deal I can handle it. I just got rid...

    Riccar 8955 Brushroll bristle length?

I hate to box it up & drag it to UPS!!! It's been 105 deg here & will be that for a week. I took the chance. Has seller pays for return. I paid $20 to ship it but with all the things wrong with it I should send it back. I don't think he knows much about vacuums. He wanted $99 for it & I got...

    Riccar 8955 Brushroll bristle length?

Thanks, Now I see the power on/off switch has a broken piece I kick myself for not noticing it. The machine was quite clean but that's a ton of use on it. I have never seen brushes down to nubs. I'm just concerned the machine has a million miles on it. I was lucky to get a 8900 that is hardly...

Have nearly 70 vintage vacuum cleaners for sale

Wonderful collection Must have been a collector. One even looks familiar. I mean unusually familar. I sold all my Kirby's. Had The Sanitare & the blue. The shake out cups ones really sucked up the dirt. The Compact is the most valuable in the box. They are great machines & that's likely a...

    Eureka and Sanitaire Pictures

Had 2 One is a ESP Think I have only the Tan left. Not a vacuum I used much. If I found an old vac for under $20 that was nice in the thrift shops I took it home & played with it. Used a few times to clean vacant apartments. Really never liked it above my others. I still have the ESP in storage.

    Picked up a Discovery II

Cool I have that discovery 2. Just had it out for a spin the other day. It really grooms the carpet but is hard to push. I also have it in a commercial model that needs the hose underneath replaced. I bought the part many years ago but never installed it. Really not sure how to take that...

Dream machine acquired - Riccar Tandem Air

Congrats on your dream machine I've been through so many. Even went to the great vacuum clean out of the garage of now I can't recall his name. He plays the pipe organ. Oh, that was at least 10 years ago. The biggest joke was when they through in this ugly boxy green SunBeam. It actually wasn't...

    Riccar 8955 Brushroll bristle length?

Bristle actually 7mm Short stubby rounded end bristle. I suppose it might be more aggressive? Is this a big deal & of what use are they? I've installed the brushroll from my Simplic 7350. I think it needs a new belt but after over an hour trying to install the brushroller unsuccessfully w the...

    Riccar 8955 Brushroll bristle length?

I bought a 2nd 8955 off the bay. I just noticed the brushroll which looked new & shiny has really short bristles compared to my others. The others are close to 12mm & these are less than or about 8 mm. Are these bristles that worn down or do they have brush rolls strips with short bristles for...

    Simplicity 7 Series info needed

RIP Simplicity 7350 Tore it down. Kept the brush roll, 2 light bulbs, rubber strip on bottom bag compartment, tools, power cord & it was a job getting at the last 2 screws of the motor housing until I took the head completely apart but I have the motor & it's a beautiful beefy beast with blue...

    I Must Be Dreaming....

Don't like the wheel placement /attachment on Simplicity I have the green Simplicity 7350 still but it's going to be canibalized for parts. It does not roll well as the plastic housing is broken at the screw that holds one wheel. It's really hard to push. It also just does not stand up in lock...

Cleaning heads and is a Persian rug a Persian rug a Persian rug

I had a kazak prayer rug circa 1900 since I was a child for over 40 years. I sadly regrettably donated it to Good will in a long depressedfit of trying to unclutter my life which did not prove to be long lived.

    Riccar 8850 Find!

Was thinking about a 8850 for parts but if motor is better than simplicity 7350 I really don't want to spend $ on fixing the S 7350. I have a great R 8955 but I use it in the bedroom. I use the simplicity with a taped handle in the other rooms as I have a bird & don;t want dust to gather on...
