How do I get at the motor of this Eureka?

Alright, I will see what I can do. I have never tried to replace carbon brushes on a vacuum cleaner before.

How do I get at the motor of this Eureka?

It smelled like burning hair last I remember. The motor, I could hear it struggling and winding down, trying to rev back up, and winding down again. At that point I just tossed it into the garage for a few months. When I got it open there was a LOT of dust inside and a lot of hair wrapped around...

How do I get at the motor of this Eureka?

Awesome, that worked a charm, thank you! There are three springs but only two need to be removed.

How do I get at the motor of this Eureka?

I need to get inside this Eureka to find out why it smells like a trash fire whenever I turn it on, but I can't see any obvious ways of dissembling it. Ideas?

    Just a 1980-something Hoover Convertible

Rabbit fur is very fine, worse than husky undercoat. It won't look like much, but once the vacuum sucks it up the fur expands and gets into everything.

    Just a 1980-something Hoover Convertible

The fur from our pet rabbits is VERY hard on vacuums. It burnt up my last hoover, burnt up a dirt devil before that, and almost burn up one of my kirbys!

    1950 Eureka manual

First post, second picture, at first I thought the lady was vacuuming a tree trunk. I machine wash all my cloth bags and have been lucky so far.. I try to use HEPA-type bags in every machine I use regularly, so if it did "open up some pores", I don't imagine there would be much dust escaping...

    My 1972 Kirby Classic...

I would bet that not one of my Kirbys has a full matched set of bolts!

Vacuums from Saint James. Photography project.

This post just made me think.. If someone hasn't written a book yet called The Encyclopedia of Vintage Vacuum Cleaners... Someone needs to get on that before I grow old and die.

    Just a 1980-something Hoover Convertible

Superocd: it is a Hotpoint stove. My b/f was disappointed that it wasn't a gas stove when we moved in, but so far I have managed to keep him from replacing it (and our beautiful orange laminate countertops). I love our 1970's kitchen! I try to keep as much stuff era-appropriate in the house as I...

    Just a 1980-something Hoover Convertible

Huskyvacs: I buffered it on one side with a rake and on the other side with a hoe, then tied it all together with bungee cords and prayed, lol! I've brought all sorts of things home on that bike. Vacuums, sewing machines, small pieces of furniture.. I really need to invest in a little trailer...

    Just a 1980-something Hoover Convertible

Picked her up thrifting today to replace the other 80's Hoover that we killed sucking up pet hair. Hoping this one last longer. I like the power switch on the handle!

    A good haul this weekend

I have been using it and the carpet beautifier to clean my kitchen today. I had $100 to spend on either a new low end plastic steam cleaner, or a vintage shapooer. I absolutely made the right choice.

Let’s play “Which vacuum from the thrift store?”

I would have jumped on the Kirby Omega and the Kirby 516!

    A good haul this weekend

So what is meant by "triple filter" on the Vanguard's cloth bag? Air is filtered through the paper bag and through the cloth outer bag. Is there a third filter somewhere?

    A good haul this weekend

There is a circle under the Vanguard, looks like it says 1 72.

The model number on the Vanguard is 2081 B. Here is a picture of one of the brushes from the Electrolux. Is this the carpet brush?

I think I remember it saying 2081 on the bottom. I will check when I get home.
