My Mom Vs. A Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300 and Chevrolet Impala

Focus diesels were never sold in the US.

My Mom Vs. A Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300 and Chevrolet Impala

Yes, the Transit connect was built in Turkey. I still see even a few first generation ones tooling around. The last Focus was plagued with the awful dual clutch automatic from Mexico. Remember the Ecosport from Brazil? Stupid swinging rear door gate then a regular lift gate but a terrible seller.

My Mom Vs. A Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300 and Chevrolet Impala

Being from the motor City, I get all types of input on many vehicles. Typically the more expensive they are the more the maintenance and repair costs. There is no vehicle today that is without flaws. Audi's are glorified VWs and parts are expensive.

My Mom Vs. A Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300 and Chevrolet Impala

Re body on frame design, Oldsmobile quality; I don't know what year your parents Cutlass Supreme was, but that was not my personal experience having owned two. The 1977 was great. No rattles even after 50,000 miles. Very smooth engine, and ride. Quiet car. The 81 model was lighter but still...

My Mom Vs. A Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300 and Chevrolet Impala

We owned two W platform Impalas. A new 2003 3800 LS and a used 2007 LT 3.5. The 03 was better and nicer. It only had a few repairs before 115,000 miles. A catalytic converter clogged because the Bush administration increased the ethanol in gasoline at about 80,000 miles. The serpentine belt...

Brand New Miele sale, several models

After reading all this, I'm glad we replaced our central vac unit. I had been admiring the C3 Brilliant and Marin, or even the upright.

Miele in the US are sold by authorized dealers mainly. Bed bath and beyond sold the former C2 blue complete only. same retail as the Miele site.

Exactly Sebo 1. Many couldn't be bothered with propper cleaning and maintenance for a premium vacuum either. With some more durable goods, easier service is also a benefit.

    New member intro

Miele and Sebo are the main top brands in Duetschland and direct competitors. In the US they are expensive luxury brands. The average housekeeper opts for a Dyson or Shark these days, or cheaper Bissell crap. Maybe they like the novelty of getting a new vacuum every few years.

I have Rainbow Rep coming to my house

I've never seen a particulate meter exhaust testing on a Rainbow or any other water medium filter vacuum cleaner.

I have Rainbow Rep coming to my house

My aunt had a Rainbow D 2 chrome dome with the Eureka power head. Her house was always dust free. She loved it. Clean the separator periodically and always use clean water.

    Pick your poison: Main equivalency!

The Pinnok ball bearing test has some physics. The heavier the mass downward by gravity assisted by suction, the more altitude it can climb. The hose isn't all in the table or over his shoulder. Still one of the best cleaner designs ever. Flash Gordon spaceship styling, not too heavy.

    Pick your poison: Main equivalency!

Most vacuums create a cyclonic motion of air. It's a natural condition when a fan spins moving air in a cylinder. Rainbow was owned by Rexair and built in Cadillac Michigan. Still?

Main Equivalency! Which one would you take?

Going by the above photos, I choose the Panasonic dual sweep canister for a portable. I'm a built in VAC user.

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

One of our neighbors growing up came from a poor share croper family in Mississippi. Her husband was in the army there. She was 16 when they met. They married two years later and moved north for a better life. He wanted her to have everything. They spent like crazy and accumulated much debt...

    Hoover SteamVac Agility

I think the older Hoovers before the TTI acquisition were better and more repairable. At least for carpet cleaners like the first generation spin scrubs.

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

My only experience with Kirby since a teenager when my folks found a Dual Sanitronic 50 at a garage sale in very nice shape was this; We had just bought our house in 1995. A phone call from a young gal named Comfort, if you believe that. She asked me if we had carpeting and would like a cleaner...

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

My grandmother's Elux 30, two aunts Compacts, and another's Filter Queen in the early 80s all bought from a home sale. I think as more began owning cars, and shopping centers had appliance and specialty vacuum shops, it was a new trend.

    The new Air-Way Ultra Kleen

My local dealer had many older Miele's in the back either being serviced, cleaned, or abandoned. Their bags and filters are expensive.

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

I don't know if still today, but several years back I let a Rainbow salesman in and do a demo. He put the upholstery tool on and vacuumed my carpet and the water was a bit grey. He gifted me the carving knife set even though I declined a purchase. Those things had tangs that were wider than the...
