    Amway CMS-1000 motor bearing issue?

Thanks for the help bnsd, I really appreciate it. I just have a few more questions if you don't mind. I have another motor that I can swap into this machine but I'll need to use a commutator stone on it, do you have any you'd recommend me using? And would it be okay to use the current brushes...

    Amway CMS-1000 motor bearing issue?

A few questions for bnsd That doesn't sound good at all, what could cause a bent commutator shaft? I'm not crossing it off from the list of possibilities but it seems a bit extreme in this case. Also what is carbons out of proper seating? Would it cause a ton of sparks while the motor is on...

    Amway CMS-1000 motor bearing issue?

Update So about two weeks ago I sent the motor to a vacuum shop to have the bearings replaced. I tested it multiple times after picking it up and it sounded great, no issues at all. That was until yesterday when I turned it on again and the grinding noise came back. As others mentioned it seems...

    Amway CMS-1000 motor bearing issue?

Hello. I was recently given this 1989 CMS-1000 which I plan on restoring in the next couple of days. As shown in the video down below, when the vacuum is turned on it will occasionally become loud. I'm assuming that it's a bearing issue in the motor but I wanted to hear your guys thoughts before...

Need some advice & help @broomvac I plan on repainting the metal frame due to rust, but I noticed that the roller bracket spring looks stretched when compared to the roller bracket spring on the ClearTrak. I actually think it's supposed to be like this due to the CMS not having height...

On Monday the foam sleeve and upper motor housing arrived. Yesterday I cleaned up the motor as best as I could and then put all the parts together. I did test it before closing the motor up and it worked well. No problems with the brushes or anything. Now I just have to work on getting the...

Broomvac Awesome to hear! I've noticed that there seems to be a bit of confusion going around about the CMS and ClearTrak so I'll try list them first. -The flat back of the bin and tapering did not happen on the CMS. That design was introduced when the ClearTrak came out in 1991. I believe...

Oh hey broomvac! How has your CMS-1000 been? I'm still slightly jealous that you got yours for $10 and it was in such a nice condition! Not to mention that it was an early version too. Anyways my CMS-1000 was made in 1988 and no it does not have the ring. Now this confirms that 1988 was when...

I've been noticing that also. The Workhorse has slowly started to become popular with carpet cleaners and more and more people are buying them. It's a good thing that WMJ is around manufacturing the Workhorse and it's parts or this restoration wouldn't have been possible. Oh and I forgot to...

The parts which I ordered from WMJ Refurbishing have arrived. I bought a new brush roll and a foam pad for the filter tray. I also bought a used CMS upper motor housing and foam sleeve for the motor which are still on there way. During the past couple of days I have been busy washing and...

Problem solved @electroluxxxx I found out why the brush holder was so close to the armature. It appears that someone had serviced this vacuum and used the wrong brush. The green brushes are a bit too big. Luckily I have a spare ClearTrak motor which was broken and installed the brushes from...

Thanks Electroluxxxx @electroluxxxx How far back do I move the brush holder? Do I move it as far like how the other brush holder is or do I move it back a bit further then that? And do I need to move the other brush holder as well? Sorry for the questions, I just want to make sure this motor is...

I've always wanted a CMS-1000 for my collection and I finally have one after all these years. I won this 1988 CMS-1000 off of ebay back on April 30th, the vacuum was shipped out on May 2nd and didn't arrive until just the other day. Luckily the vacuum suffered no damage during shipping but...

    So I found a CMS 1000

Wow very nice! The CMS-1000 first came out in 1987 for America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It was produced until 1991 when the ClearTrak was released. In Australia and New Zealand, the ClearTrak was called the CMS-2000 and came with a tool holder which you attached to the top of the...

Dyson DC07 animal: is it worth selling as is? Or should I attempt to refurbish?

Awesome! Sucks that I am in Vegas right now. But nice that you're going to Hawaii, which island are you visiting? Anyways I hope you don't mind about the colors. The DC07 parts I have are yellow instead of the purple which your machine has. IMO I think that purple and yellow would look pretty cool.

Dyson DC07 animal: is it worth selling as is? Or should I attempt to refurbish?

I might be able to help I actually have some parts that I salvaged from a broken DC07. If you want I can sell you the parts since I don't need / have any use for them anyways. I know for sure that I have parts for #2, #4, #5. Could you take some pictures of the broken areas?

    My cleaning business vacuums

Will probably get yelled at for this... But I would recommend the Amway ClearTrak (now rebranded as the Workhorse). Here is some info about the vacuum. -Made in the USA. This thing is built like a tank, you can abuse it all you want and it will still work fine. -Has a silver rating from The...

    Kenmore Destiny & Other Collectables

Awesome! Looks very nice, I have 2 questions though. Does the HEPA filter housing have the little release button near the bottom? I know some Fantoms/Kenmores are always missing it. And is the top of the handle broken at all?
