I have a Hoover 262 ... ... but no dolls house. I saw it on eBay a long time ago and thought it was cute

    Some of my Progress vacuums

Thanks - and what another great find! That one was apparently set to a pop song of the era. All the old advertising is fascinating. I've been enjoying the Christmas, Food and Song threads elsewhere on the site, so thanks to those contributors as well

    Some of my Progress vacuums

Broken Link? Hi Kirbyman65 (Jack), So there are two of us who need practice! I couldn't open the latest link you posted. Hopefully you can update it so we can all enjoy another one of those old ads. Nick

    Some of my Progress vacuums

What a great ad! I can't get over how they'd invest 1 minute 37 seconds into an advertisement. Perhaps it was for cinemas, so it wouldn't have been anywhere near as expensive as if you wanted that amount of time on modern television. My German is rusty. The words go more or less like this...

    Does anyone remember???

Andy chance it's Jerry Lewis in "Who's Minding t There's a segment in that where a Convertible bag blows up like a balloon and it floats around the sales floor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who%27s_Minding_the_Store%3F

New Zealand Hoover Constellation - Model 885A. #12372

Very interesting I'd never thought about it before, however I'd assumed that Australia would have supplied much of the NZ market back then. NZ would have made an obvious market for things like Hoover, Sunbeam, GE and so on that were made/assembled here in AU. I don't know the history of F&P...

    Kirby 50th anniversary ?

Electronics versus Electrical? I'm in Australia. Back in the day the department you bought mixers, vacuums, washers etc was often called "Electrical" or "Appliances". The word "electronic" referred to solidstate devices, such as transistor radios. There's a possibility TVs and radios were...

    1984 Australian Vacuum Ad

Memories! Oh, they were all models available in AU ... so if in CA as well, then that just shows how all things are global. Godfrey's no longer trades in the used market, however you can still buy new machines and spare parts through them.

1960's Hoover Floorcare brochure "Hop Green" / "Swedish Green" range

@compuvac Thanks for the insight. The Euro has been around so long we'll all have forgotten the franc, peseta, deutsche Mark and all the others in another few years ... The next interesting thing then is that they didn't produce a translated version of the brochure. You'd have thought the...

1960's Hoover Floorcare brochure "Hop Green" / "Swedish Green" range

Money, money, money ... They're great brochures and bring back many memories! I'm now curious about the handwritten figures on many of the pictures. The booklet is in English and suggests it's for the UK/EU market. Somebody has taken a lot of trouble to put pricing info on it, however I...

    National Capsule vacuum cleaner questions

OMG .... they're still around? My aunt had one back in the late 60's. National had a range of products that were designed so that you didn't have to hide them. They could live "in plain sight", so to speak. And to be fair, they fitted very well into some of the plastic furniture aesthetic of...

    UK/Australian Hoover Turbopower rear wheels

Pictures? Hi John, Do you happen to have a picture of the wheels you're after ... or the machine itself ... in case nobody puts two and two together from just the name? I had a lovely mauve/lilac TurboMaster from that period and have no idea if the parts might match or not ... Cheers, Nick

    Hoover Sydney

Meadowbank photos Hi Michael, Great photo. Do you have any others of the NSW factory? As I understand it, they did the whole range of Hoover appliances for Australia there ... washers, dryers, cleaners, polishers and so on. It would be wonderful to see other photos of a manufacturing age...
