Faked Kirbys... If you want to see a "faked" Kirby...or pehaps a better term would be a "plagarized" Kirby, just check out a Bison vacuum cleaner...who would fall for that model?

Shiny ! Did you clean and polish the Kirby with Mother's by hand, or with a buffing wheel? I do mine by hand, but can get a wheel for a drill if that gives a better result...and your polish brand sure beats TurtleWax metal polish !

Siemans.... The German company, Siemans, had a central vac system in the very early 1900's,called The Vortex, popular with well-heeled Europeans....

Has anybody looked at the ad for the SonciClean upright with "12,000 vibrations per minute"...? NOT exactly cutting-edge technology, in spite of all the touting....seems to me to be a revolving brush, no more, no less, as Hoover--and others--formulated at the turn of the LAST century...LOL ...

The battle Royal... If you can afford it, I would buy both Royals...I suspect the one with the tan cloth bag is older, and possibly more collectible, but the 801 is vintage! If necessary, you could use one for parts, as those, for a vintage Royal upright, are getting very hard to find...it is...

Kirby polishing... Try Turtle Wax metal polish and 0000 steel wool...a little hand work, but a great shine,and control better than power polishing. To keep them buffed up, I use a Conoisseur silver cloth now and the after a "spin"...

Electrolux... Well, thanks for the comment...but do you have any to sell? Or know anybody?...besides ebay, which is a sucky (no pun intended) place to buy things most of the time...!

Anyone have an Electrolux Olympic or Silverado in very good to fine condition? Not especially interested in one with power nozzle, but very particular about condition, hose quality, attachments, and of course, appearance and performance...Divested myself of the Kirbys and the Royals...change is...

Most bags can be washed in cold water and air dried, but no detergent orsoftener, seals the pores of the cloth. The bags are such a tightly woven material that they won't shrink.

Sorry... Shame that I am donating all my vacs to Goodwill today...my Royals are nice, and my Kirby 518 is a trip....think you will enjoy your Royal, but time to move on, and "clean out" my basement...and life...! If you ever want a new vacuum for general use, not for collection or show, you...

Turbo 500 Thanks for replying to my thread...and happy holidays...! I have a new partner in my life, and he will be my " hobby"...he sure beats (and he does sweep, and clean) a vacuum cleaner, even if it is a Royal 880...! Or a Dreyfus Hoover...or a Guild Electrolux...or any of that good stuff !

A bonanza for Goodwill! All my vacuums with the exception of my new Sentria are going to find a good, new home...time to rethink a hobby...and move on and away from collecting vacuums... sort of fun to come on this site, but there is a limit, I guess, in how much one can discuss...look at...and...

Just got a Kirby 518 from my dealer that was taken in trade...one owner, in very fine condition, does have a new cloth bag from 1981 (but imprinted "Kirby" all over in the old logo), has all attachements, and even the original instruction manual with a promo card to win a 1959 Rambler ! Just...

By the way, if you need something for your Royal, like bags-belts-brushes, avoid TotalVac as a source...slow, slow, slow...I like GoVac, too, and ABC Vacuum Warehouse is good, too...or eBay, but I hate that auction business there...I like a price up front !

the Classic III has been completely redone even down to the motor brushes, the bag is the original in perfect shape, and the trim is perfect...but I can also find a Kirby "500 series" model in fine shape with all the attachments, from my dealer, in good shape except for a buffing, for $50.00...

Royal 880 JUst got a Royal 880 myself about 4 months ago, and love it ! was in great shape, and with some burnishing and a new belt and bag, like it just rolled out of Cleveland ! Use it every day...you can still get most parts for it on line, or on eBay... also have Royal Prince hand vac, and...
