Repair cable clip on Hoover 6525e?

Perhaps I can pay a little back to everybody to helped me in this thread (tip at end) If one did wish to fit new clips, the question arises of how to mark out the drill holes in a nice straight line. In the world of engineering, this used to arise when marking out "key seats" which are milled...

basic resto/parts question on Hoover Senior?

I asked this on another forum, and a guy said he'd found the same terminal crimps on an old Kenwood Chef (only a week ago, by coincidence) Looks like it's more of a period thing than a Hoover thing. BugBear

How to check/replace carbon brush on Hoover Senior?

    >> I confess I had never seen a tab this colour until now I edited the picture, to show (what I wrongly thought) was the "sleeve". BugBear

basic resto/parts question on Hoover Senior?

This company appears to have a HUGE range of terminals: http://www.molex.com/molex/products/group?channel=PRODUCTS&key=solderless_terminals But they don't have "ours" BugBear

basic resto/parts question on Hoover Senior?

I am about to replace the cable; during the work I discovered that the flex ends are fitted in copper "surrounds" that I've never seen before. I was expecting soldered ends, or crimped on terminals. Are these "ends" compulsory, and if so, can I get them from anywhere in small quantities...

basic resto/parts question on Hoover Senior?

    >>Really!? Has it been in daily use? You over-estimate the cleanliness of my house... Carpet vacuuming is fortnightly at best. BugBear

How to check/replace carbon brush on Hoover Senior?

    >>Well other than what I said already, for which you are most welcome, I thought the spade was in one piece. I have no memory of a sleeve, though it would only have served as electrical insulation. ahah! Looking again, it's not a sleeve, it's the sides (wings?) of a single piece, folded...

basic resto/parts question on Hoover Senior?

    >> A good (cheap) sourse of drive belts is Genuine Hoover!! You can get them for about a fiver for a pack of two. Each belt lasts at least 6 months in my experience so it is only £5 a year in belts. My hoover was fully refurbed (nearly all replaceable parts replaced) by a local repair shop...

basic resto/parts question on Hoover Senior?

Obvious to all here I suspect. 1) I've seen reference to "after market" drive belts being rubbish. What's a good (cheap!) source of Hoover (or other good) drive belts? 2) I would like to replace the flex. Looks like a simple job. A 400/600 watt motor has a peak current of 2.5 amps. What rate...

How to check/replace carbon brush on Hoover Senior?

Does anyone know why the spade/tag appears to be in two parts, with a slide-on sleeve (coloured a tasteful purple in this photo)? BugBear

How to check/replace carbon brush on Hoover Senior?

I am bravely looking inside my 6525E; I've cleaned out the obvious fluff, and wish to check the carbon brushes. I know what they look like; black rectangles on the end of a spring. Everybody seems to find this so simple that I can't find any instructions!! The cable seems to have some kind of...

Repair cable clip on Hoover 6525e?

I have a broken lower cable clip (cleat?) on my 6525e; I can see that it has been glued once before, but the glue has given way. The clip appears to be riveted on (aluminium rivet, I think). Is repairing it easy? There's not much glue surface. Can it be replaced (can the rivet be removed)...
