    Regina Electrikbroom finds

Well this is kind of crazy but I found two basically new Electrikbrooms at two different thrifts in a 4 day period. Thought I'd share them. My grandma used to have one similar in color to the tan one.

    Rainbow score of a lifetime!

Just scored this Rainbow at Goodwill for $20! It works fine, it's just externally dirty like it was sitting in a shed. Cleanup will commence tomorrow.

Scored an awesome Sanitaire S657 for $4.99!

Not only is it in awesome shape but it works awesome too! Almost too good to be true.

Has anyone sued Dyson for false advertising?

I'm curious to this. They claim to "never lose suction" only a filterless Rainbow is likely to achieve this such as a D4, the Dyson filters will clog. Assuming you were to empty both basins when full the Dyson will eventually clog, the Rainbow will still work, probably without cleaning the...

Unfortunately had to toss several Vacs at work this week

Had about 5 pallets of vacuums that hat have been at the place I work for 3 years. I decided to attempt to save them or as many as possible. I basically had the sole stipulation of fixing them cheap enough to be worth while. Most were displays, Amazon returns etc. Casualties- Hoover Tempo...

New old stock. Eureka and Hoover bagged vacs (late 90s early 2000s)

Any collectors looking for these? I know of a place that has a few brand new, stuff like earlier bagged Windtunnels, soft bagged uprights. I stumbled across these by accident. They are full original price of whatever they sold for when they came out. If these appeal to anyone let me know via...

Dyson cyclone filtration, not that hot based on filters, are filters to blame?

I use a DC33 and DC07 on occasion, recently purchased another Rainbow E Series from a thrift for $10 and was cleaning it today so I used the DC33. I've used it maybe 15-20 times since I last cleaned the filters around February. I'm not cleaning anything out of the ordinary, not getting an...

Scored a Rainbow E Series dirt cheap!

Kinda excited about this one. Found a Rainbow E Series with Aquamate II for $9.99 from a thrift store. Already have one but that's not the point, it was cheap and you never see them. I could buy a Kirby a week, but never see Rainbows, this is the 4th in years of thrift store hunting and I bought...

Bissell Healthy Home HEPA filters on Clearance at Lowes

Just thought I'd pass the word along, some of the local Lowes here in Buffalo had them as low as $2. I only bought what I felt was a supply that will last the life of the vac as I am using it to vacuum a wood stove. If this a nationwide deal and you own the vac, it might be worth looking into.

    Odd Rainbow thrift store story

Took a ride to a seldom visited thrift store and was walking around noticed a Rainbow D4Se power nozzle hose and instructions plus a new genuine belt to boot. It was priced at $6. I take it to the register the lady asked if I was happy with Goodwill find and I said yes, it's a great deal. Turns...

    Fantom Wildcat brushroller bearing

Anyone got an idea where to get one, perhaps a bearing shop, machine shop? Got another of these and the Vacuum is perfectly fine except for this bearing, it looks like an off the shelf part. I attached a picture, I can always measure it if it would help.

Rainbow vs. Fantom Thunder, last vac wins the demo, in response to Kill a Kirby

In regards to the Kill a Kirby thread , I decided to do a test of Fantom vs. Rainbow in the same light. My wife has a Rainbow demo coming up and wanted to practice, so when it came to vac comparisons I chose my Fantom Thunder vs. the Rainbow. You could pull cloths all day with the Rainbow (we...

    Bissell healthy home 16n53

Well the Eureka airspeed one was not cutting it for the wood stove, surprising since the dual cyclonic Fantom handled this job with ease, however I have pretty much retired every working Fantom to occasional use only due to rarity. So I stopped at Ollie's today and they were selling off all...

    Eureka Airspeed One

Picked up one of these to clean out a wood stove as it was cheaper than shop vac filters which burn up if you get a hot ash by accident.. This thing is cheap! Build quality is beyond cheap. Only redeeming factor over an equally cheap Bissell is it is dual cyclonic. I tested it against a Fantom...

How rare is a circa 1936 Rexair Rwinbow?

Just curious about this. Our local office has one in the downstairs sales room where they do writeups for service and sell the scents and stuff. Theyv'e got a D4 and E2, and it is sitting there on a shelf next to them,. I'll admit it is pretty cool and in pretty good shape., I presume they took...

    9 amp Fantom Thunder (Domestic)

Does anyone own one of these? My last post got me to thinking. I garbage picked one of these maybe around 1999 on the way to work hoping to salvage parts from it. Was wondering how similar it was to a Vectron. It was an incomplete machine, missing the collection bin, the cone was longer than...

Dyson long term durability vs. other brands

Since I've been on this Fantom kick as of late, doing a quick scouting I've got a lot of 11 amp Fantoms as well as Thunders, Destinys and Destiny Pluses. Some of these are pushing a hard to believe almost 20 years old. A few of these, like a Destiny I got yesterday were probably in regular use...

    Are Fantom vacuums really "rare"?

The reason I'm asking this is there seems to be a lot of talk about Fantom vacuums being rare. I don't find them all that uncommon. If I go outside the last 5 years, when I search thrift stores, they are probably the third most common vacuum to turn up in quantity outside of Kirby and Rainbow...

Relatively late run Fantom Thunder found today

Stopped at Goodwill and picked up a relatively late Fantom Thunder for $4 date coded week 30 of 2001 (late July) apparently refurbished, looks like they were farming out repairs to a third party by this point. They were bankrupt October that year. Not in bad shape, still has the dusting brush...

    Fantom Cyclone XT works!

Picked up a Fantom Cyclone XT a couple of months ago at a thrift store for $10, pretty decent shape, finally got around to testing it and it worked fine. I've had pretty poor luck with the Cyclone XTs, only got one other mint condition one working. We bought one on clearance at Target years ago...
