I'm surprised California hasn't outlawed central vacuum systems yet

In California, politicians are banning electric cars, gas appliances, and gas mowers for the next 10 years because of "climate change", due to greenhouse gasses causing air pollution. I'm surprised Gavin Newsom hasn't banned central vacuums because they vent dirty air into the atmosphere. Now if...

    Forgotten Central Vacuum Accessories

What central vacuum accessory do you think has been lost to time? The VacnSeal was an accessory that was supposed to be for sealing food in a plastic bag but has been LONG discontinued more than 10 years ago, due to the popularity of ZipLock bags. There are NO videos of the VacnSeal existing...

    Why Tacony SUCKS nowadays.

An example of how the mighty have fallen. Tacony used to make excellent vacuum cleaners like the Riccar 8850, 8955, R20 Vibrance, Simplicity Freedom, Riccar Pristine etc. Nowadays, they make HORRIBLE Chinese-made vacuums that are POORLY-MADE, OVERPRICED, POORLY-DESIGNED, and POORLY-PERFORMING...

What is the worst-performing vacuum cleaner that you've ever used?

The worst-performing vacuum that I've ever used was the Oreck XL. It's carpet cleaning ability was so ATROCIOUS that it would grind dirt into the carpet. I had medium-pile plush carpeting, and that thing could NEVER get out of its own way. We had a central vacuum system that would clean circles...

Piping 2 central vacuum units in tandem

The main question about central vacuums is if I pair 2 central vacuum units I get better suction. Is this true?

What niche vacuums do you like?

I like central vacuums the most. They're powerful and they clean carpets fine, (if you install them correctly and use a good power nozzle) the filtration is outstanding, they're quiet, and they're a good investment.

Canister vacuums are they actually good at deep-cleaning carpets

I mean, there are power nozzles that perform decently on carpets, but an upright is better.

My opinion on the MD/Centec Vibrating Upholstery Tool

It's a great tool, much better than the mini turbo power nozzles that always get clogged with hair. The tool can be used with vacuums that have a 1/4 fitting.

What vacuum do you think was the last good Eureka?

For me, it was the Boss Smartvac. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but it was still better than the Chinese crap that they make today.

Do geared belts provide more torque than traditional rubber belts?

I have a question. Do geared belts actually have more torque than those stretch belts? My thought is that the teeth on the belt actually help brush roll spin faster on carpet.

The horrible truth about central vacuum systems and why every non-Canadian millennial hates them.

Central vacuum systems have always gotten a horrible reputation from non-vacuum enthusiasts for being clunky, outdated, and impractical. They've also been hated by professional vacuum test channels like VacLab for losing 95% of their cleaning performance due to their long hose and long piping...

    Metal wire brushroll

What happens when you add metal wire bristles to a steel brush roll? It would cause aggressive agitation, but it would also damage certain carpeting.

Do central vacuums actually deep-clean carpets as good as a portable?

Central vacuums are good for above-the-floor cleaning but do they actually deep-clean carpets, I've heard from one user that the piping creates a lot of air resistance, and only gets about 50 CFM at the nozzle.

Do central vacuums work well if properly installed?

Central vacuum systems have a horrible reputation for being a clog nightmare, so if I install the correct piping and fitings, do they still clog?

What brand do you hate the most?

I really hate Oreck for being underpowered and leaving dirt in the carpeting.

Do central vacuums work well for killing ants?

We have an ant infestation, and we're wondering how our central vacuum takes care of those little assholes.

    Fleas in carpet

My carpet is infested with fleas and I need something that is more powerful to remove them. I know direct-air vacuums are FANTASTIC when it comes to carpet cleaning.

Do central vacuums loose suction and airflow through the piping?

I know central vacuums are powerful, but do they lose cleaning performance through the piping?

Is the Wessel Werk HEB-160 useless?

I mean, it doesn't have very good agitation at all. The Electrolux Sidekick does a much better job and has a wider opening. https://www.wessel-werk.com/en/products/electro-brushes/230-heb-160
