Is THIS Hoover Convertible THAT rare?

It doesn't even have the correct bag. Originally this model had a dust cup with a bag that had a 75th anniversary emblem on it.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hoover-Convertible-75Th-Anniversary-Vintage-Vacuum/124607709929?hash=item1d0332c2e9:g:M8wAAOSwVQhgNLdc

    Whatever happened to twister cups?

Back in the late '90's/early 2000's I recall some canisters (I think it was Sharp and Kenmore) having twister cups on the side of the wand. They were also called "bag savers." Other than making the wand obviously more clunky to maneuver, it seemed like the ideal hybrid for someone who wanted...

Electrolux model XXX with a power nozzle port?

All this talk about Electroluxes leads me to wonder - does anybody have or has anybody seen an Electrolux XXX with a port for a powernozzle pigtail? I know Metropolitan refurbished and sold model XXX's well into the '70's so it's reasonable to think that some vac shop or Metropolitan may have...

    Hoover Constellation 88 question

So, I just acquired some Hoover Constellations through the generosity of a customer who was cleaning out a family member's house. The oldest (and most interesting to me is a model 88 that runs and is in fairly good shape. I'm thrilled since I have the matching Convertible 67. What I would...

This Hoover 69 packs a surprise inside....

I just saw this Hoover model 69 on eBay. Clearly the bag is a replacement. But if you look inside it's the print from the bicentennial edition! Did Hoover have extra vinyl to make replacement bags? Has anyone else seen this before? - Hershel...

    Hospital Eureka Roto-Matic

I found this picture of a Roto-Matic on a website of abandoned locations. This one is in an abandoned hospital in Detroit. What I'm curious about is did Eureka make these special for hospital use (as Electrolux did with the hospital G) or was this something the hospital itself cobbled...

    Kirby G5 question

Today, a Kirby G5 came in for repair that had no BPI indicator on the front nozzle. The nozzle is stamped Kirby and has the correct sticker for the belt pulley. Was there a manufacturing run of G5's that didn't have that light? I thought all Generation series machines had it?

    What's going on with Electrolux?

Since the acquisition of Eureka by Midea and Bissell's takeover of Sanitaire it would seem as if Electrolux was left in the dust. I haven't seen anything new offered from Electrolux. Are they still around? Have they been taken over by someone else? Inquiring minds want to know....

Vintage Kenmore upright in "The Twilight Zone"

I'm sure it's been discussed on this forum before, but I was watching an episode of "The Twilight Zone" last night that I had never seen called "Young Man's Fancy." A new groom was being cajoled into selling his mother's house by his wife. At the beginning of the episode you see a Hoover...

    Hoover model 61 lenses

I have a question about the Hoover model 61. I've seen some with glass lenses, others with plastic. I would assume the later ones came in plastic, but does anyone know when Hoover made the changeover? Thanks. Hershel

A variation of the Electrolux 1205

The other day I came across a stripped Lux 1205. the motor is unfortunately gone, but what struck me as odd is usually the metal casing has a rippled finish. This one was smooth and painted over the usual teal. It has the cord clip and around where it says "Automatic Control" is blue, so I...

    Does anyone remember Sir Vac?

I'm not even sure how long ago it was manufactured or by whom, but I do remember a cleaner called Sir Vac. Does anybody out there have one or could post pictures? Thanks. - Hershel

Wasn't there supposed to be a new Kirby for the centennial?

So now, it's almost August and I read on here awhile back that Kirby was going to be releasing a new model for 2014 completely redesigned from the handle down (not done since 1990 with the Generation 3) that might be called the Avalier. It would have the switch in the handle. Does anybody know...

A question about the Hoover Convertible 1010

So I just acquired a Hoover Convertible 1010 from an estate sale in beautiful shape. The seller told me his parents got it as a wedding present in 1968. Only thing it's missing is the pedal pads. Other 1010's I've looked up on the internet seem to be missing them as well. Because it was the...

    Hose repair advice needed

I was at an estate sale over the weekend where I found an early convertible tool kit. Sadly the cleaner was nowhere to be found (there was a Shark on the main floor) but I wanted to try it with my model 36. I discovered a tear in the underside of the ultraflex hose. I really don't want to use...

    Just acquired a Hoover Sprint

So I just found a Hoover Sprint 100 at my local thrift shop the other day for $17.99 in perfect shape, complete with tools. According to the serial number, this one was manufactured May of 1989. I'm pretty sure the 100 was the economy model, but how many different versions were there? I know...

Something I've never before seen in a rebuild....

So I was looking at a Kirby 508 on eBay (sans original bag, cord and vinyl trim of course) and I noticed something interesting on the builder's plate. Sometimes they remove the plate altogether (which really is a shame) but this time they cut the Kirby logo out and kept the rest of the plate...

    Hoover Dual Voltage

Over the weekend, I decided to check out the local flea market. With a sharp increase in traffic, you either have to go super early or late in the day to find a parking space. It's getting harder and harder to find any older vacs there, most of them started out as $50. bagless throwaways...

Calling all Hoover Experts (Concept One question)

I went thrifting today for the first time in a long while, and picked up a Hoover Concept One model U4209 with a serial number of 00007489. Does anyone know by the serial number when this cleaner was produced? They also had the same color burnt orange Concept One model (U3103?) in the power...

    Calling all Hoover experts

Last weekend, I picked up a Hoover Runabout (Elite) model U4283-970. The serial number indicates an April 1992 production date. The cord hooks are both broken off, and motor housing is cracked. What I was wondering is if the motor housing could be replaced without having to replace the whole...
