A Christmas gift to me....from Montgomery Ward

The last time I saw one of these I was a wee little fella, 3 or 4 years old.  The memory of the brown color, side-mounted bag and front-mounted rocker switch has stuck with me for over 50 years.  Thanks to ebay, this Christmas I'm feeling like a little kid again.

    I just got Roto-maticized!

I found this on craigslist last night and just couldn't resist.  According to the guy I bought it from for $5 it was in his grandmother's livingroom until just recently and hasn't been used since 1960!

Help! I'm trying to identify an obscure vac from my childhood

I have wracked my brain off and on for years trying to figure out what make of vacuum some friends of my parents had when I was about 3 or 4 years old.  I entertained myself playing with it whenever we went over to visit.  I remember it being completely brown; base, handle, bag, hose, and even...

    3 more "thrifty" finds

    unusual Hoover demo circa 1960

I'm wondering if anyone else out there has any recollection of this.   Was it an official Hoover-sponsored setup or could it have been something our local store devised on their own?   Back around 1960 our hardware store had a fun gismo to demonstrate the suction power of the Hoover vacuums...

    Vintage Electrikbroom

I stopped at the vac shop this morning to pick up some belts and this old Electrikbroom was leaning behind the counter.  I went back this afternoon to offer something for it and I got it for nothing!   It's a model K.  Does anyone have an idea how old it is?   Neil

Golly gee, look what I found!

These tools have been packed away in a box for quite some time.  I wasn't quite sure with which model they belonged.

    Hoover 700 issue

After taking photos of my vacs to post yesterday I thought I'd give some of them a little loving attention, starting with the Hoover. My problem is that the carriage for the beater bar won't swing up, it's stuck in place. I've had the vacuum for over a year but this is the first time I've ever...
