    Electrolux XXX Suction

Since I only own one Model XXX (which I rebuilt myself), I have a question to throw out to those of you who are familiar with Luxes in general: Have you ever compared the suction of a Model XXX with a 535 watt motor with a newer model Lux using the SAME wattage motor (like a Model G or a Model...

    "The Vacuum Cleaner Parking Lot"

Here's a photo of what my mother calls the "Vacuum Cleaner Parking Lot", with a newly refurbished addition--a Model XXX, in which I've just installed a new motor (and it now purrs like a 'lil kitty cat).

Can anyone identify the newest additions? =)

In Need of Some Advice Re: Lux Model XXX Motor

Hello Fellow Vacuumlanders: Recently, I acquired an Electrolux Model XXX that appears to be in pretty nice shape cosmetically. It came with the original hose and all the attachments, sans the sprayer and vaporizer. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to test it before it was given...

    Lux Collection to Date

Hey All, I thought I'd share a photo I took earlier of my Lux collection. I only began collecting in September of last year. I did have a Diamond Jubilee with its matching power nozzle, but I gave it to my mother who fell in love with the power nozzle. The first machine I acquired was the...

Lewyt Model 55 Up For Grabs...

Hey Guys, I have a Lewyt Model 55 (mfg. June 1952) that was given to me that I don't have room for. I am offering it to anyone who might be interested in it for merely the cost of shipping. Condition is fair, suction is good. I've uploaded a video of it operating on YouTube, demonstrating...

    Wheel Replacement on Vintage Electroluxes

I'm just curious if any of you have ever replaced a front (suction end) wheel on an Electrolux Model G. It seems as though the wheels (with the chrome "hubcaps" removed) look just like the back wheels (blower end) on a Model L, and attach the same way. There is (what looks like) a...

    Today's New VACquisition...

Behold the lovely Electrolux Super J which arrived on my doorstep this afternoon, from Capital Vacuums in Albany, New York. This came complete with original hose and PN-4 with a brand new brushroll installed. The machine also comes with a one-year motor warranty on both the vacuum and the...

    Electrolux Hose Restoration...Help Needed

Hello all, I know that recently (within the last few months) someone posted about restoring Electrolux saran hoses to air-tight condition through various methods. I have two beautiful hoses that I would like to have restored--one is from a Super J which I just acquired, and the other is from a...

    Electrolux Model L User's Manual

I just uploaded the complete user's manual for the Electrolux Model L. It is visible in my album if anyone would like to check it out. Fred, if you happen to read this, would you mind posting the manual in the User's Manual section? I wasn't sure whether or not I could add those photos to...

    Time for Service?

Hi All, Today I was using one of my Model Ls (the blue one). All of a sudden, I noticed that the motor began running more slowly and the suction decreased. At first, I thought perhaps an appliance somewhere in the house had kicked in and was drawing power away from the circuit upon which I...

    How Does a Rexair Work?

Hi people, I'm very curious as to how the Rexair Rainbow works. I know it involves water, but I'm just curious as to what the innards of the machine look like and how it manages to filter the air through the water. Can anyone take pics (if you have one of these machines)? Thanks =) Brian

My Electrolux PN Collection To Date

I acquired a new PN-6A this week, for use with my Diamond Jubilee. I also never did post a picture of my PN-2 after I polished it up. Here is a pic! Note: I added the cute little lightning bolts to the pic, because they remind me of the lightning bolts that used to appear on the old school...

    A Perfect Example

Here is a perfect example of the inflated prices that sellers now think they can get for their vintage vacuum cleaners. All I can say with regard to the "Buy It Now" price is "CRAZY PERSON SAYS <<< W H A T > > >?"...

    Mom's Miele s230i

Hey Everybody, My mom has had the same Miele s230i canister vacuum since September of 1985. She had the motor rebuit in 1996. (I'm not sure I remember exactly why). She is still using the same vacuum. It still has very strong suction, but I have noticed that the after-motor filter is...

    Question About Servicing a PN-2

Ok, so I tried to open up my PN-2, but found that once I got the aluminum plate off the bottom (that covers the brush roll), it was completely inapparent what to do next in order to remove the plastic cover. There are no other screws to remove. Anyone familiar with taking these apart?

    A Video

of my Model L w/PN-1. I am definitely not a good camera person, but you can hear my vacuum running and the sound of my PN-1.

    Behold! My New PN-1!

I received this Electrolux PN-1 today in the mail. It is an eBay find, and it is in terrific shape for its age. I hooked it up to my Model L to give it a "test drive", and it works perfectly! Electrolux PNs are rather noisy, though...in fact, the sound of this drowns out the sound of the...

    Refurbished Model L...Voila!

Here's a photo of the Model L that I refurbished with a complete set of attachments. All in all, it cost me about $35.00 including shipping to fix this machine up (purchasing a new hose, dusting brush, and crevice tool.) I posted a picture of it before I cleaned it up a few weeks back. The...
