    Vacuums that Need New Homes

We are downsizing and need to pass some vacuums onto new homes. Most will be free if you pick up in Dallas; otherwise, packing and shipping charges will be necessary. Email me if interested. There will be more to come. Thanks, Jay, (email in profile)

    Aerus Website

Have you noticed the changes this week on the Aerus website? Hard to find much mention of vacuums, and vacuums are conspicuous by their absence under the "Products" tab. I hope this is just a website error and not the future for Aerus vacuums. aerusonline.com

    DALLAS MINI-MEET

This is a survey for interest in attending a mini-meet in Dallas this fall--probably the weekend of 8 November. Please email me if you might be interested. Thank you, Jay

    Straight-suction Uprights

Are there any recently manufactured straight-suction uprights? I seem to remember that Royal still offered one, but I can no longer find it on their website. At the VCCC Convention, I was intrigued by the cleaning power of the vintage uprights without a brush roll. If there are no recent...

    Church Vacuums

I was approached by the sexton of our church about replacing an old commercial Elecrolux. She said she loves the vacuum, but it has seen better days. Does anyone have experience with the blue knock-off Prolux vacuums? Are they as good as the originals they replaced? The church is small, and...

Different Power Nozzle...Different Dirt Picked Up

Has anyone else noticed how changing power nozzles can result in a suddenly large amount of dirt being picked up? Maybe it is the different frequency of excitation by the different power nozzle designs, but I am always amazed at the difference when I occasionally change machines. Jay

    North Texas MiniMeet

Sean Curry is hosting a MiniMeet to showcase his vintage vacuums this weekend at his home in Euless. We tried to reach everyone in the membership roster with a north Texas address but might not have been successful. If you are interested in joining us Saturday, 5 November, please contact Sean...

    Housewarming for Ben

Friends in Houston just moved to a new home. They became big Dyson fans while living in London, and their new house has lots of hard wood. To complement their Dysons I've added a Silverado. Harriet eat your heart out! Jay

    Batman 1966 XXX Rated

My partner John is a real Batman fan. I normally watch the movies with my laptop or a good book close by, but yesterday I happened to catch the Joker carrying his "Big Ben Distiller Total Dehydrator" which was a really cool use for an Electrolux XXX. They even had the hose attached to the...

    Ideal Vacuum Design

So, if I were to design the ideal vacuum.... The following features are a must: 1. Quiet--I like to be able to talk on the phone while vacuuming 2. Cord reel--wrapping a cord around and around is so, well, 20th century. And make the cord very long! 35 feet minimum. Stopping to find another...

    Dyson Convert

Not sure I will ever abandon my Electroluxes, but after learning quite a bit from VintageHoover about Dysons and after visiting friends with them (and vacuuming their homes and cars--such a welcome friend, I am,) I took the plunge and just ordered the DC25 Blueprint Edition from Dyson online. I...

    Eureka Princess

The vac of the day was the start of it all for me. That was the one that my Mother had until I was six. To this day, the curved wand leading to the floor tool is pure beauty. I know other vacuums had similar ideas for reaching under furniture, but I just think the curves that Eureka had were...

    Collecting too fast on Ebay

Well, I was welcomed into the club and promptly bid and won two more Electroluxes on Ebay. The first win was a dud. It was advertised as a "diamond" canister with a "Perfect" canister in the picture. I had a few reservations, but I got it for 20 bucks plus a fortune in shipping. When I received...
