    Homemade polishing tool

I found this useful for getting in to those tight corners when polishing aluminium. I started using an old toothbrush and the head snapped off, which left a nice angle on the shaft so glued a piece of dense foam on to it and then used an aluminium polish / paste to get in to those awkward...

    Aluminium polishing issue

I have managed to get this part of a G4 polishing up nicely except for one part (image) The aluminium has markings which look crystalline in nature a bit like frost on a cold morning. Not the best image as difficult to show due to glare. Its like it is under the surface. Anyone know what it is...

    Nice challenge Kirby G5

I got this given to me...I wonder why :-) After a quick look I reckon a few days to get this back up to a nice shiny Kirby. Nothing appears to be seized but at this stage dare not switch it on until I have a closer look. I will post more images as I progress.

Changing Kirby roller cap ends ?

Is it possible to swap the cap ends on a Kirby head Or reposition the magnet to the other end of the roller. My own use Kirby could do with a new roller brush and the spare I have has the indicator at the opposite end also the large & small end caps opposite to what would fit. My wifes Kirby...

Kirby labels for belt lifter ? UK

Anyone know if there is anyone in the UK supplies Kirby labels for the belt lifter or indeed anyone that supplies a decent range of spares for Kirby's in the UK. I can get spares from USA but postage make them uneconomical, and ebay for 2nd hand parts can be quite expensive. On another point...

    G3 headlamp not working

Headlamp not working, bulb is ok. When I opened up the case there was a loose terminal, I reconnected this but still not working, the loose terminal gave me a continuity reading between that and at the bulb socket. The two wires that come from the headlamp one which was loose and reconnected...

    Kirby G3 slide issue

On the attached image which is the yoke slide, it would appear that the spring is missing, having said that I cant see where a spring would be attached nor any evidence of the little spring brackets that hold the spring having been removed. Any thoughts on this.

    G4 headlamp bracket removal

I always struggle to get this part off, I do manage it but feel there must be a `proper` way to be doing it. I basically prise the 2 top lips out from the casing but feel one of these times they are going to snap. Any suggestions.

Any ideas for...

My wifes original Kirby G5 I have cleaned and polished after 20 years (long overdue) however to finish the clean up I will clean the `plastic` accessories not that they have been used much but after 20 years it wont do any harm. My question is has anyone ever stuck them in a dishwasher and do...

    I am being silly, but.......

I have a not so good G5 and currently have 2 extension hoses. Out the back along side my fence I have loads of leaves so I was thinking put a hose on the intake and one on the outlet and get the kirby to sling the leaves over the fence. Putting aside any possible fan damage has anyone ever tried...

    Yoke tab, Kirby Tradition, welded

Ok so after trying to make an insert I then found a local welder who welded a piece of bar approx the same thickness as the broken tab, took him a couple of minutes and free of charge. (nice man :-) I then cut to size and then filed by hand, drimel and bench grinder. This got me a good enough...

    Traditional update

I have pretty much finished polishing the case with decent results. the tab I made for the yoke works however anytime I want to take the handle pin out it would have to be reset so will leave it out meantime. The corrugated hose inside the bag was `ripped` so until I get a replacement I decided...

    Yoke tab, Kirby Tradition

Unable to source one in the UK I decided to go for attempting to make one,not ideal and if it fails next option is a blob of weld on it and hopefully file to fit. I started with a piece of scrap metal, cut to size, then filed to shape and fit. Time will tell if it going to hold as I had to file...
