    bissell pro heat

Can anyone give some guidance on considering this Bissell pro heat , at an estate sale, for cleaning my carpets? Was it any good even new? I know there is a newer one, of course, at $230-280 but I am not in the market for that amount. I can't determine how old this is....i recall there was a...

    are these worth getting? hoover/riccar

I"m looking at an estate sale....found these...wondering how 'good' these might be since I don't know the brand/models well. Is that Riccar 500 one worth much? Is it a low level model? Hoover : thought it was a hard floor cleaner....but I see bags in the back of it....or are those likely for...

    Hoover y & A type/kenmore O bag usage

So I try and use more modern hepa type bags if possible on my metal Royal uprights …or Hoover 63/29 as wel as old kirbys, Tristar copies, & Royal canisters (type j). Can these be used for any of those applications ? This is more to those collectors who modify their machines to use newer type bags.

So I see the width differnce btwn the two . Weren’t they developed for the same machine? Would the type C bag ever be used with old Royal uprights ? With older Hoover model 61/63/29? I don’t hav Randy eureka machines….wondering if I need these for my model 63/29 or royals?

    Avalir 2 x 2 speed

I finally got around to modding my Avalir(2017 red/black)...but I was torn on whether I'd change this one or my Sentria 2. I prefer the look of this late model Avalir but prefer the handle of the Sentria ( big hands prefer larger handle). Unfortunately , the metal was cut too far and the 2 speed...

Bucket list item added to collection

Finally got it! Galaxie Prestige 990( a Royal 888 with different name). I had looked at it at a thrift store, waited till today when it was half off ( chancing it , no doubt, it could have been bought by someone else in the one day interim). It’s very quiet surprisingly . I serviced it (...

    Grabbed a Hoover

The collector in me overruled sensibility and previous allegiances with other vac brands. I saw Hoover celebrity ( round tank ?), celebrity and this blue model. The canister Celibrity was super condition but I’m not a fan. No one else wanted it either it seemed ( last day of sale is 50% offf)...

Damage from using it as a blower

Here are some pics & an explanation of what can happen to your kirby fan when using the machine as a blower with the supplies nozzle guard from a kirby technician of 40 years. “ This is the result of using the air intake nozzle on the sentrie and later kirby when in the blower mode. Completely...

    bearings in bulk purchase?

I seem recall someone in the past posted about buying the bearings for older Kirbys ( I"m sure they were used in other vacuums as well) that were in 'bulk' ie.. 5-10 of them for way cheaper than purchasing individuals. Can anyone help me with this?

    First Electrolux since childhood

My first memory of our family vacuum cleaner was a 1205 Electrolux but I don't remember much after that ( curiously odd to my mind, that fact). My friend, who've I've referenced many times here is a vacuum technician since the 1970's with emphasis on Kirby's as well. He closed his doors this...

    Last vacuum always wins?

I conducted a little informal fun test ....vacuumed my upstairs areas 1.75 rooms for this test with my Kirby heritage II and 40 mins later out the dirt meter on another Kirby to see why the first one might have missed ( because many people say ‘ the last vacuum to clean wins’ aka whatever vacuum...

    Polishing aluminum

I thought my 505 emptor was pretty good, but during my restoration of my 1935 Model C......yikes. The results show I need to work more on that 505!! Also, notice the size difference between the two!

    Airway Sanitation system

so, I just acquired one of these old little appreciated machines ( compared to many other classic brands/models) and am quite hoping that I can actually use it on my hard-floors. I have taken it apart to clean and inspect it ....steel wool polishing etc but realized the 'glass' turnable "Dust...

    Make the hose longer

Decided to make my own extended length hose for the stairs and car cleaning. I didn’t want it bad enough to buy it from Kirby for $70ish, so my kirby technician friend orders raw tubing (40-50 feet) and we made three of them out of it. Just forcibly I unscrewed the ends from donor hoses , heated...

    old hoover questions

I bought and put together, after some help from someone here, made my Hoover model 61 work nicely . Then the cord took a dive into 'aged oblivion'.....I haven't been able to find a replacement yet, but have some ideas for a newer replacement. My question now is, I saw a Hoover 28 for...

    Need a cord

Does anyone have a Hoover 60/61 cord they'd get rid of? My model 61 is the only Hoover I have and it is all cracked up.... It just shorted out and is unusable now ( after a 75% restoration effort. I suppose I can use any 3 wire cord worse case Thanks

cleaning up your recent vac acquisitions

So I'm wondering how you all ( to what level) clean your new vacuums you get after your search for them. Do you clean them to different levels/degrees depending on your liking of that particular model? ( aka more extensive cleaning for more desireable ones and less detail/cleaning for lesser...
