Best Estate Sale finds to date

So I responded to a Craigslist ad for 6 Kirby vacuums and accessories for $20.00. Picture was not very clear. I saw 4 older Kirby’s plus an early GE, and a Royal commercial. It was a drive, so I asked them to hold it for a few hours. Showed up, and the family was extremely happy to see...

    Compact C6 found today

Estate sale find today. They wanted a lot - settled for $30. Pretty clean. I’ve read that they are solid. Wow. This thing is built. Swivel coupling on hose leaks air a bit, but cloth hose is good. Not many miles on it. Missing the upholstery tool. Maybe I should mail in the warranty card.

    Coolest cake ever

A co-worker has a young son that loves vacuums. For his birthday, a vacuum cleaner cake was made. Now which one in the picture is a cake? Simply incredible.

    Vacuum cleaner display idea

Hi all. I have a new office, so I thought that I would redecorate. I wanted to go vertical in a stylish way. I found 14” wire rack pieces, and have started with this configuration. Total vacuum height is a bit tight on the lower level - limited to 42”. As you can see Adams wonderful 562...

Ultra RARE collectible one of a kind Kirby 511

On Craigslist, this one of a kind Kirby is shouting out for a new owner. I had no idea that an upside down emptor would work. Huh. No, I did not stage the picture. It’s really for sale.

    Electrolux XXX question

Decided to take the plunge and get a reasonably clean looking Electrolux XXX on EBay. From what I could tell by our archives, it’s a circa 1952 machine. I love the rails. For about $60 including delivery, I just couldn’t pass. Hose pulled out of the connector to the vacuum. Advertised as...

    SUPER RARE VINTAGE COLLECTIBLE

Can anyone define "rare"? (alternative "super rare") Can anyone define "collectible" Can anyone define "vintage" I am so tired of searching antique (defined as at least 50 years old) vacuum cleaners with wildly over optimistic statements of uniqueness.

What does the general public notice - take a guess

I am slowly assembling a vacuum collection in my college office. Really interesting - which pieces are noticed, and which are ignored when I have visitors. Wide range of people from my staff, salesmen, peers, and organization leadership. I always tell new visitors that I am a vacuum collector...

    2017 Vacuum convention

Hi all. Having a GREAT time. Tom has been a wonderful host. Starting to place faces with name. The museum is sooooo cool. Playing with coffee can Hoovers. On the other side, the cordless Simplicity is on a future buy list. Here's my "new" Kirby from Adam.

    Kirby Kirby Kirby Kirby and...Kirby

Yikes. What happened???? I wanted to collect coffee can Hoovers. I have the 105, 700, and 725. Cool old vacuums, plus a dusting tool attachment kit. Not very exciting. I wanted gadgets. Then I found a $40 Classic III with a large assortment of tools. A $15 Tradition in excellent shape. A...

    VCCC or VL

I am a bit dumbfounded why the GE motor thread turned into a saber rattling, rock throwing, accusatory discussion. I started this thread to at least match a discussion that matched the "subject" line. I'm a "new" old vacuum collector. The advice here has been invaluable to my growing interest...

    Kirby - Do I or don't I.

Here are a couple vacs that I left behind. Any thoughts on them? Both are supposed to be running but didn't test. The heritage can be had for about $40. No idea on the other machine.

    Kirby classic 111

There are two classic 111 models near me. $30 with tools. What's good and bad about them.

Hoover 105, 700, 725 or "I can stop at any time"

So in the past two months, I have gone from having no vintage vacuums to four. All Hoovers. My first was a previously posted Hoover 105. It's going through a nuts and bolts cleaning and rehab. Last week, I followed up on some languaishing Craigslist ads over 30 days old. One in Madison -...

    Cordless vacuum advice

I'm faced with the reality of buying a cordless vacuum. I have a new construction area to clean that has limited electrical outlets, and a "modern industrial office" look. Exposed metal roof trusses (10 feet high), industrial type hanging light fixtures, open staircases that are hard to get...

    Commercial vacuums

Hi all, I thought that I would throw in my experience with commercial use vacuums over the past 20 years. The vast majority of the time has been a mix of Windsor uprights that I did not have purchasing control over. VS1/3 - mid 90's VS14 - 2000's VSP14 - 2010's In short, I hated all of them...

    Franken-Kirby questions

I'm putting on my flame retardant suit to ask these questions: I'm a tech minded guy. I LOVE gadgets that makes something more versatile. I do not own a Kirby. I know that there are a lot of weird accessories for them - especially the hand butler. I have seen a number of Kirbys in my area...

    new to me Hoover 105

Hi all. New to this list, and vacuum collecting. Current vintage products: Bissell Grand Rapids, early Johnson Wax polisher, Hoover 105. I'm a housekeeping manager for a college, and want to build a working display for my office. Here is my recent purchase of a Hoover 105 factory rebuild...
