Just restored Hoover Senior Ranger U4058

Hi there everyone. Here are some photos of the vac before and after restoration. This machine works well - we are going to use it as our daily/weekly driver! Ive had a great condition orange, or should I say Aegean Gold, bag for years but have never got the Hoover to go with it until now. The...

    Hoover Senior Ranger U4147 1979

Hi all. Just making it into the vintage forum is this U4147 which I have just finished restoring. The other ones I've seen on the forum are bright red but this one is more of a muddy red colour. It's such a strange machine, with its US/UK mix. The Ranger hood with height adjuster window on top...

Any hints and tips on cleaning and mending Hoover ‘Plasticized’ Bags?

Hi there. I have recently aquired a Hoover Senior (Convertible in Canada and US) from the 1970’s which has a badly damaged outer bag. If it was a cloth I could use invisible mending patches, but I am at a loss as to how to mend the tears and holes in this plasticky material. Anyone have any...

    UK Hoover Serial Numbers

Can someone remind me what the Hoover serial numbers meant in the 1970s. I know the model number is first, but how do you work out the month and year and what do the other numbers mean? Also, when did this system of numbering start and finish?

    Hoover Turbopower Vacs

Hi there. Normally on the vintage forum but came across 2 Turbopower cleaners and wondered if they were collectible - one is dark blue and one is grey. Sorry, should have got the model numbers. No idea how many different models were produced. Thanks.

Unusual orange 6526C on Ebay at the moment

I think this is a recon job - what do others think of this unusual 6525C? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rare-yellow-vintage-Hoover-Senior-6525c-70s-Mod-retro-/220639693268?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Vacuum_Cleaners&hash=item335f2689d4

Hoover Model 475 with 'new' bag!

Well, here is my model 475 with a bag that looks original but isnt. It's actually a standard black and white replacement bag which I have altered. The Model 475 original bag is very similar except that the lines go right down to the bottom of the bag and 'EMPTY EACH TIME USED' is written under...

Hoover Junior 370 - polished alloy

Here's one of my 370s - the only one I have ever seen which is polished like the big Hoovers. My theory is that it is one of the 1935 Jubilee models - maybe they were polished to make them special. Pity I dont have the right bag!

    Hoover Model 700 from 1926

Hi there. Here are some photos of my Model 700. This was in such good condition that I didnt need to restore it, just give it a good buff! Note the original handle (Made of metal with ebony inserts and all part of the on/off switch assembly!!) and rubber furniture guard. The bag is from the USA...

A terrific trio of 1960s Hoovers

Here are the first 3 UK Hoover model 652 series 1959 - 1967. I did have a blue 652 from early 1970s but I really like these first 3 because they are totally colour co-ordinated. The later ones used off white handles and rubber guard. Maybe Hoover was cutting costs. I did use artistic licence...

I missed the pink 652 thread but here's mine!

I read the old thread on 'Who has the earliest 652'. It was really interesting. I never knew the early ones had a bright red footswitch. Here are a few photos of my 652. If the contest was 'who has the latest 652 I think this might win - serial no JS331850. According to the manual this dates...

Interested in Hoover list of models - anyone have one?

Hi everyone. Id really like to know if there is a list of US Hoover Models and dates up to 1970s. We had so few models in the UK compared to you that its really hard to work out which US models came where in comparison to ours. I know that the Model 638, for example, was like your model 63, but...
