    Electrolux LX with accessory stand

I found this today at a Goodwill for $9.99. the machine works great and, even though I have an LX in nicer condition, I had to get it just because of the stand! http://https//www.flickr.com/gp/40439385@N07/52CvCt

    Kirby 516 find

I was walking around my neighborhood and saw a distinctive red handle sticking up in a neighbors yard. I peaked over the fence and saw a moderately neglected Kirby vacuum. I couldn't stop myself from walking by there repeatedly over the following 24 hours and finally went to the door and asked...

    Electrolux Model G curb find

I drive a few blocks out of my way on the way to work each morning to drive by a thrift store that people often leave good stuff in front of. Today I found a model G that has been refurbished along with a PN1 power nozzle (that doesn't work) and a hose in pretty good condition. I didn't realize...

    vacuums in kids books

I don't know if it's just because I like old vacuum cleaners, but I keep finding them in books I read to my kids. It seems that a lot of illustrators have an eye for vacuums. Here's an example:

    Hoover Constellation floating?

I just got my first Hoover Constellation after looking for one that was "reasonably" priced. This one is a little challenged cosmetically, but the engine sounds good and it seems to work well, but I was disappointed when I put it on a hardwood floor and turned it on and it failed to "float on...

    Hoover Model 25

I found this Hoover buried in a garage at an estate sale. I paid $8 for it and it seems to be in pretty good original condition. The bag was full of some kind of hair and there is a small hole in the bag. The motor stared, but seemed pretty noisy. Here's a picture of it after I wiped it down to...

    Electrolux E find?

Saw this at the Salvation Army yesterday with only the hose - I couldn't find a price and when I asked they said it was $10, but that it would be 40% off so I paid $6. I really only wanted it for the cord winder which matched my other "E". When I got it home and cleaned it up, I saw that it was...

    Premier Spic-Span

A friend of mind gave this to me as he knows I collect vintage vacuums. At first, I wasn't really interested, but took it anyway. After cleaning it up, I kind of like it and it doesn't take up too much space in the garage!

what's the most beautiful Vacuum you own?

Forget about how well they work - or that they work at all! Which vacuum, in your opinion is the most striking visually? For me, I would have to say it is the Electrolux LX - the first vacuum that I bought because it was "beautiful".

    Turbotronic

I saw this in a thrift store for $15 - thought it was pretty cool, but not nearly as well made as my Electrolux or Royal canisters. I was tempted to buy it and then pass it on, either on this forum or on eBay, but don't want to end up with a house full of "orphan" vacuum cleaners or to have to...

    Got another Hoover today

I promised myself that I'd try to "quit", but I saw this yesterday for $20 at the Salvation Army and told myself I'd stop by and buy it if they were having a sale. Sure enough, 20% off today. Got it for $12. The light lens is cracked and it needs a service, but other than that, it's really...

    GE upright

Saw this in a thrift store today for $15. Runs quietly and the bag inflates, but it was missing the back wheel, the cord was not original, and the bag was a bit frayed at the bottom. I'd never seen one and couldn't find a picture of one in the dirt finder. Are these rare?

    shades of Greige?

I wanted to repaint an old Hoover that originally had a seal greige base and handle - does anyone know of an "over the counter" solution, or am I going to need a prescription? Thanks!
