Electrolux Purchase - How Did I do?

I got this off of Ebay. All the parts seem to be there and it's in good cosmetic condition. He claims he has disassembled the machine and cleaned it inside too. The price was $260.00 + shipping a few days ago. Today it dropped to $199.00. Didn't figure it would go any lower, so I went for it. I...

    Hoover Belts

What's wrong with Hoover Vacuum belts? A Convertible belt used to last a year or longer with hard use. Now they are lucky to last a couple of months with little use. And they won't stretch over the pulley. It's nearly impossible.

    Hoover Model 66

I bought a Hoover model 66 late last year. I've been trying to revitalize the outer bag without much luck. It wasn't terrible but it was a bit stiffer than I like. I know it's probably a tall order, but if anyone knows of a source for another model 584 bag or a 66 bag could someone let me know...

    A Day at the Museum

I called Tom at the Vacuum Cleaner Museum & Factory Outlet last week and set up a time to go down to St. James. He said Wednesday (yesterday) would be good for him, so I told him I'd be there. I got there between 10:30 and 11:00 and spent the day. He gave me a tour through the museum to show me...

    Hoover Convertible 66

I got this in the mail a week ago today. I spent about 24 hours total working on her. The lady that sold her claimed she was in very good condition, which is true for the most part, but I don't imagine she is a collector or connoisseur of vintage vacs. I have a couple of issues with the machine...

    Kirby Sentria

I found a Kirby Sentria at a second hand shop today. I checked it over and it seems to be in good working order. Runs well and sounds good. Tech drive works well. Fan is smooth - no nicks. Cord is good and so is brush roll. No scratches, just dirty. Needs a good cleaning and some polishing. I...

    What's Wrong with this Convertible?

It's got a white hood and the bag holder has been replaced. They claim it's in very good condition but it has these problems and it's rusty on the bottom. I might be interested but not at that price with those problems. Do you guys agree...

    Convertible A, B, C and Promotional Models

I've been studying different threads and can't seem to come up with an answer. If there's an explanation and someone knows the answer I would appreciate it. One would think that there would be a rhyme or reason for these different lines but I can't find it. I understand how promotional lines...

    My Grandmothers Kirby Classic III

In 1976 a Kirby salesman came to my Grandparents door and wanted to demonstrate. She allowed it. The price started out high and when my Grandmother refused he would come down a bit. They kept going back and forth and finally he said he would give her a trade in allowance for her old vac and let...

    Convertible 36

I'm liking this Convertible 36 better all the time. The brush sound just stopped. I didn't have to fix it. The only thing I don't like is the short cord and the attachment gate is broken. Is it worth or possible to fix these problems? When my membership renewal time is due on AW I'm going to...

    Hoover Convertible Thrift Find

Thought I'd sneek over from the washer side and show you guys what I found yesterday. I must be reverting back to my youth as I was wild about vacuums then, so yesterday I went hunting for some unknown reason and found this. It's nothing extreamly special but it was in really good shape so I...
