    More airflow tests.

Fabulous results! Does it have a hose? How much power does it draw? Seems like a reasonable result. It appears to be in the same general class (120+ CFM) as the SEBO D4, Tristar CXL, Filter Queen M360 and Henry HVR200. Of course a "hot rodded" Electrolux Marquis with a 12 Amp (1440 Watt)...

    More airflow tests.

Fantastic Results With Staggeringly Similar Airflow measurements from 4300 miles away from Ohio. I get about 120 CFM from my G6. Can't wait to see more tests. Bill

Airflow tests flawed? Lack of calibration!

Broomvac, what a strange comment His conundrum is inconsistency of measuring devices, not whether or not air is a compressible fluid. Which it is NOT at normal atmospheric pressure and typical vacuum air speeds. But don't believe me, how about Kim Aaron, PhD in fluid dynamics from Caltech...

Airflow tests flawed? Lack of calibration!

In order to fully check consistency you must Use all three vanes on one anemometer and then repeat the same tests with the other two anemomters. That would be 9 sets of "mix and match". And while you're testing for max peak airflow, you must test at least three times over a period of several...

    More airflow tests.

With Near Kirby Sentria II / Avalir Levels of Airflow And a small nozzle area, I would imagine that it doesn't (or it's not recommended) make a seal with the carpet? Without a power assist, the airflow density would be so extreme, it wouldn't be usable on pile carpet. Would owners raise the...

    More airflow tests.

Umm, Devin Are You Sure Those Numbers Aren't Flipped? After dozens of tests over a few years, I have yet to see airflow increase from the hose down to the power nozzle. It always decreases...a lot. Are we to believe the Dirt Devil has 80 hose CFM and 130 nozzle CFM? And the Eureka has 49 hose...

    More airflow tests.

Mark, I'm not blind yet I know Mike's Vorwerk is an upright. Geez. The point I'm attempting to make is twofold. 1) 80 nozzle CFM isn't much to crow about since much cheaper clean air machines can achieve this figure and 2) A 1980 Electrolux Olympia One with a new vinyl hose can get 75 nozzle...

    More airflow tests.

Devin, thanks for the Lux GP measurements I think it's quite a great machine but about a 32 CFM loss from the hose/wand connection down to the PN is very high indeed. Normally, I would post a pic of my Hoover Tempo Widepath (under $100) that does 80 nozzle CFM, but I already did that farther up...

That might work, but some people use Foam rubber weatherstripping, which is usually very inexpensive. I use microfiber cloths because I have a lot of those and they are easily configurable. They look terrible, but work very well. Bill

    More airflow tests.

Mini-Meet #2 Marquis Measurements Are somewhat on the "quick and dirty" side with the Luxes. The Sentria I airflow box is exact (127.4 CFM) as I measured that Kirby several times over several minutes. When using the GM8901 anemometer, please use only this conversion to obtain CFM from...

Filter Queen 75th and M360 (black) airflow losses

Since the industry standard airflow hole is Two inches in diameter, the total area of the intake hole just needs to be bigger. So a 2 inch round hole has an area of 3.14 square inches. If your top intake area is say 10" by 1.5", that would be 15 square inches, which is much larger.

    EU Vacuum Ratings (Dust Re-Emissions)

Even though I don't live under EU regulations, I made this video showing (what I believe) is a massive deception created by the European Commission. It's a "talkfest" I suppose. Bill

    Airflow v Airspeed

Ah, now I'm seeing where you're coming from I think The strength you feel is a pressure (suction). If you need to force air to do work (spin something) or traverse long distances (say 50 or 100 feet), then higher suction will maintain more airflow. BUT, if your airflow is restricted too much...

    Airflow v Airspeed

Airflow with relatively low suction Can pick up houses. Think of a tornado. They are rated by wind speed, not suction. Also introducing wind driven tools changes the equation quite a bit. You are now making the air do work by forcing it to spin something. Non mechanical tools work better with...

    Airflow v Airspeed

Mike, I must disagree with you on this one My entire youtube channel consistently shows that fine dust pickup requires high airflow coupled with a reasonable amount of agitation. High suction is a lie perpetuated by the bagless manufacturers in order to make their machines seem as good as dirty...

    Airflow v Airspeed

Yes, Airspeed Over an Area is The Most Important Thing in addition to agitation. Remember, you can't have airspeed by itself. The speed of the air will have some sort area (i.e. nozzle opening) to flow through. For comparison, a Dyson DC65 has 30 MPH air with the nozzle removed (ball bottom)...

    Airflow v Airspeed

I see the two like this... Airspeed is only the speed of a certain sample of air. For example, air travelling at 60 MPH or 10 M/S. Airflow takes into account a volume moving at a certain speed. For example, cubic feet per minute or liters per minute.

How much have Kirby G Series Mini Em-Tors improved?

Along With Airflow Improvements, The Brushroll Has Become more aggressive, so the total cleaning performance has jumped quite a bit since the G3. BUT, if all you want to see is CFM over the years, I have posted a table here: Bill

    Central vac vs Portable vac.

I am in shock then Roger... that a machine over in the USA, rated by CRI as "gold" and highly by Consumer Reports for years and years does very poorly on European "wilton" carpet. That carpet must not be anywhere close to the typical USA medium pile carpet. If that's the case, then you would...
