    70s Kenmore Canister Find

I took a closer look. It is the model 2699, so it’s from 76. It has the two speed switch and performance light which is the one I was looking for exactly., so I think it’s the same as yours, just a year younger. Has the original plug which looks good too. That’s interesting on the replacement...

No warning drawers on new ranges?

That is a very nice range! I wish they still made 40” ranges, I’ve seen a few of those in real estate listings, particularly older houses. I wouldn’t mind having one myself, with a hood stainless steel vent hood vented outdoors above it. Some slightly earlier years of that glass top range had a...

A crock pot with a cracked pot

Yeah, I make a circuit of thrift stores pretty often. I’ve seen a few green crocks for Crock Pots, but not ones for mine yet. I’ll keep watching thigh. If all else fails I’ll order one from Hamilton Beach directly or eReplacementparts. .

    70s Kenmore Canister Find

I went to the flea market this weekend, which I had mostly given up on. To my surprise at the first booth I came to, was a 1970s Kenmore canister vacuum. Avocado and yellow with wood grain too. This has been my “holy grail” machine since I started collecting vacuums 10 years ago. I remember as...

    Dirt Devil Ultra MVP

Nice find! I always wanted to find one of these, I didn’t know they were dual motor machines. There was I believe a dark blue model as well that’s variable speed.

    Rehabbed my gas grill

Lava Rock Grilling Do you get fewer flare ups (when the burner is working properly) with a gas grill with lava rocks? Does this type of grill have flare ups at all? When we had our gas grill (newer type without the rocks) we found it flared up more than when cooking on a charcoal grill. The...

A crock pot with a cracked pot

Plastic lid I saw one of those Crock Pots with the plastic lid tonight at Goodwill. The unit was a blue and white and the lid looked to be in good condition and clear. I didn’t ever understand why they made the lids out of plastic in that era. I did find a replacement crock for my Hamilton...

A crock pot with a cracked pot

I’ve kept an eye out lately but haven’t found any line crocks anywhere. I found replacements online but it’s looking like the cost will be around $40 with shipping, so I doubt it’s worth ordering a new one. And the probe would be another $20 should I want it. I guess I’ll just chalk this up to...

No warning drawers on new ranges?

Nah, plenty of ranges in the mid to late 2000s had a warming drawer, not “several decades” ago. Did you read my first post?

No warning drawers on new ranges?

Do your ranges have an actual warning drawer though, in that it has a heating element and it’s own temp control for warming stuff? If not, then that’s all it is, a storage drawer.

Need advise on problem with NEW Hoover Porta Power

I got one from eBay a couple summers ago. Yes definitely the last to have the good old attachments.

Kenmore now selling tub style vacuums

Apparently now Kenmore has a range of tub vacuums, both wet/drys dry only versions. I like the colors. These appear similar to the Vacmaster line, and made by Cleva like other Kenmores these days...

No warning drawers on new ranges?

Why do warming drawers on ranges (where the storage drawer below can be used to keep food or plates hot) seem rarer now? I remember it used to be in the mid 2000s a lot of ranges had them, even some more basic Kenmores often had a “warm and ready drawer.” Frigidaire even had a Gallery edition...

    Sunbeam Mixmasters

Today during lunch I stopped at Goodwill and saw another Mixmaster. This one was a Mixmaster Electronic in white and black with a shiny sticker stripe down the side of the motor. It had a bowl light as well, push button beater eject. There were two stainless steel bowls, the spiral dough hooks...

    Bin stores

Yeah I walked through the one that was in the mall once or twice. Nothing I was interested in.

I got the new bissell powerforce bagged.

I have one I got at Goodwill last summer for $10 or so. I really like them, the black and cobalt blue scheme is simple, yet sharp. They are lightweight and not bulky like many modern uprights. The blue Febreeze paper bags they come with filter well too. Really nothing bad I can say about it...

    Bin stores

Bin stores? I’ve noticed a new trend are these bin stores that open up in disused retail spaces. Inside are long table like bins filled with merchandise at cheap prices, that people sift through. I’ve noticed that these stores don’t seem to stay long term. We had one open in the mall around...

Rare color variants of particular vacuums

One that comes to mind is a Hoover Self Propelled Windtunnel in a very rare red metallic color. I’ve only ever seen one in person, at a thrift store last summer. And one photo posted here in another thread. It seems the color was called Garnet Metal.
