The illustration above is incomplete. In addition to the models shown, there were also Models VI, VII, VIII, and IX -- sold in different parts of the world. I believe the Model VII was a German model.

Personally, if it was me I'd leave it as-is. I've found the hard way that trying to "improve" an old vacuum cleaner like this usually ends in sadness.

    Why is the curved handle-end of the hose stuck into the machine??
