The dirt bag on the vacuum's exterior

DickandKitty are one of my least liked eBay sellers. They break up everything to maximize their profits and they will charge you much more than cost to ship. They will also dribble out pieces over weeks so you don't even know that they have all the pieces. I bought one item from them and I won't...

    Electroluvin on a Sunday morning

Motors are very simple things... they can get wet if not electrified. It really won't hurt anything. I usually remove the carbon brushes, just because they are a wear item and it makes getting the comm clean easier. Don't leave it soaking for a few months, but a few hours wet won't hurt...

    Electroluvin on a Sunday morning

Short of pulling the motor apart, getting an odor out is not easy. I would either pack it in aquarium charcoal - and I mean pack that charcoal in every opening and in the fans, as much as you can - in a box just big enough to hold it all and leave it there for about a week. Choice 2 is to run...

    Thoughts on the Dyson DC14

Guess I just got all the bad parts. Glad everyone else has had better experiences with them. I shall refrain from posting further as I am clearly an outlier.

The Brush is Stuck Glued Tight!!!

so you have buyer's remorse because you paid more than you think you should? sounds like you'll know to ask questions next time. you didn't get scammed, you got excited and now regret that you got carried away. that has happened to most of us at one time or another.

thanks for sharing John. I love to see this old literature. I can now recognize it should I see it and add to my own collection.

The Brush is Stuck Glued Tight!!!

How did you get scammed? Was it sold as something it isn't? Was it sold a mint, near mint or used? Did you ask any questions? Did the seller misrepresent the vacuum? Or did you make assumptions, or wish you'd asked questions that you didn't? Do you just feel like you paid more than you wish you...

    Electroluvin on a Sunday morning

Geez.. I should have told you earlier too... you can make it run without a bag, just press in on the piece that sticks out on the inner door... with a bag in place it is depressed and completes the circuit allowing the motor to run. Just don't go vacuuming the floor with it :-)

    Electroluvin on a Sunday morning

the sidekick has a plastic brushroll, the PN should be wood, Ash to be precise.  Though aftermarket brushrolls may be alder, ask or oak, at least I've seen those 3, may be others.

Todays pod. Exactly what color is...

read it as Deep Seal Gray... dark brownish gray the color of a mature seal.

DT,   Kirby makes a similar, but much smaller, brush insert for a crevice tool.

    Electroluvin on a Sunday morning

I can't help you with getting the bag compartment out. I've never had to go that far on an R model and I try to avoid them anyway so I haven't played with many. If I had one in my collection, I'd figure it out for you, but alas, I don't. Lucky for Electrolux collectors, compatible hoses do stay...

50-60 free vintage vacuums near San Francisco

I'm glad I don't have any free time or extra money... I collect old fans as well as vacuums, I'd be in deep trouble if I lived closer. 5 hours is just far enough to make it an uncomfortable day trip.

Problem With a Trewax Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Ebenezer,   Welcome and we've all learned by doing and from the generous support of fellow members and, at least for me, several 'adventures' in doing it all wrong.  Thankfully, ignorance is an easily corrected affliction. If someone on here doesn't know the answer or can't find it, I...

    Little Lux Line-Up

Aerus and Electrolux before them have rebadged several offerings. Most are not available in the same configuration Aerus sells from the original manufacturer. The Platinum Air is made by BlueAir, but has the Titanium Dioxide coating and UV bulb which aren't available on the BlueAir.

Problem With a Trewax Upright Vacuum Cleaner

the most likely place for a blockage is anywhere there is a bend in the mechanism to channel air. I'd start with the neck and intake just behind the brushroll as there is certainly a blockage there, otherwise you wouldn't be spewing dirt out immediately. Follow that blockage back to the stuck...
