Dyson long term durability vs. other brands

My DC07 was used regularly for 7 years by it's previous owner, who wasn't very nice on it. It's survived but with a cracked canister handle, and a nozzle hose that's split and needs replacing. Other then that a good cleaning fixed it, and it could go a long while yet IMO. Still runs perfectly...

    My new toy arrived today!

very pretty. I wouldn't mind one! But I'm very happy with my DC17 so I'm in no rush. Does it have the same super stiff brushroll as the DC17?

    Witchita Appliance Store......

I love what I see in all of those photos, especially that really neat median and the ballroom! Mid Century modern paved the way for what we see today, but IMO Mid Century modern is still my favorite kind of modern!

The Results Of My Latest Shopping Spree...

My vacuum collecting bug has pretty much sat dormant for 2.5 years so about 3 weeks ago the bug bit again and I started looking for something new to add to my collection! I ended up settling on a Panasonic Performance Plus Platinum upright (MC-UG583).......... .........THEN One thing led to...

Paid another visit to Sweeper Central

Very nice pictures, it makes me wanna take a trip out there just to visit John Gregory's store! And I thought there was another brand of vacuum you love that gets to clean your carpets too!

    Kitchen Safety Film from 1949

For the people that didn't get lessons like these passed down from older generations they should make video's like these again. Instead of trying to make everything idiot proof and in doing that ruining things for everyone else haha. I think there should be educational video's for vacuuming...

    What's your favorite Dyson(S)?

I like my DC17. My experience with Dyson's is limited though, so I haven't gotten to try out all the models. That thing picks up insanely well though.

    Replacing a Dyson

Also I second the canister idea for the hard floors. Having a second suction only canister seems perfect if someone is insistent on having an upright for the rugs/carpets (that's how we have it here, and I've done that for some other people too)

    Replacing a Dyson

Panasonic MC-UG583 (can be found on eBay for around 200) There is the Windtunnel Supreme on the Hoover site (old style Windtunnel), on sale this week. Panasonic is great if you get something from the Performance Plus line. The Riccar Vibrance is very similar as they pretty much copied...

What's the CRAZIEST vacuum deal you have experienced?

My best deal so far was... My Green, mint condition 1980 Concept One PowerDrive for 5 dollars. It was layered in dirt and needed belts but that dirt preserved it's fresh mintyness. It's my favorite in my collection and I'm in the market for "one or two more". hahaha.

Tarantula Arms Is Getting A Facelift

Looks like there wont be any water shortage in your shower! Your neighbors might be wondering why they have no pressure in the morning hahahaha. You may need to increase your pressure in the house for that! and P.S. I'm drooling over here, that'll be an AWESOME shower.

My birthday gift from me to me!

Does anyone know if these machines were discontinued? I found a post from John Gregory from last October and from that post it sounded like they were, but the Hoover Professional Series machines are still for sale many places online, is there that much leftover stock or are they actually still...

My birthday gift from me to me!

I just looked at VCDiscounter - I can't believe the price for that machine! It looks like a steal! I'm gonna have to get one of these for Christmas or something.

My birthday gift from me to me!

Happy Birthday! I got the C1631 Guardsman one year for Christmas, I love the sound and the Decade 80 shell. I'm jealous of the red bag and headlight on yours! Where did you order it from?

Tarantula Arms Is Getting A Facelift

Fred Just don't tell the inspector! Be interesting to see how that can be worked around. I'm sure St. Charles would be glad for you to be paying them a higher water bill every month! I know one thing you will be using up every last bit of water that 3/4" plumbing can deliver! Can't wait to see...

Tarantula Arms Is Getting A Facelift

The corrugated aluminum ducting is usually used for exhaust fans, do you have a bathroom nearby on the level below? Oh one thing I wanna warn you about is that all shower valves since 2010 have built in flow restrictors that limit water flow to 2.5 GPM or lower, you may not get the experience...

Tarantula Arms Is Getting A Facelift

I love the transformation! The brushed nickel is a very nice choice, I've always liked it, but wondered if that's gonna go the way of Polished Brass after a little while too. If you waited long enough Polished Brass would've been back in fashion!

I've had my fill of the Eureka The Boss Smartvac

I have two 4870's, one in Teal and one in red that looks exactly as the OP's two. Bought the Teal one, then bought the Red one later on and put the Teal one on rug duties at my mom's shop. (you wouldn't believe what's in those rugs) About a year in the height adjuster plate on the bottom...
