Wiring diagram for Electrolux Model E

If I'm not mistaken... that capacitor is wired wrongly; the red should go to one side of the supply and the black to the other. I expect that the yellow is an earth and should be grounded on the machine. In its current condition, the capacitor will not be doing its job (leads shorted...

    Kirby 509 or 510 - A Question

Yes, isn't it just James! I wonder how he keeps it so clean if it's a daily driver? never really thought of using an upright with tools attached permanently. Are there no carpets in Charles' house? and BTW James I'm back from the mower rally now so I'm not likely to be on the motorway if you...

    The Hoover model 800

Is that a brass chassis badge? Most of the 800 ones I've seen have been aluminium. Having said that I have three 825s. IIRC, only one has a brass badge. It seems that Hoover either made the brass ones first..or alternatively, just used whatever material happened to be lying round at the time.

    The Hoover model 800

A real good looker! I've seen a few of these where the little badges have been scratched badly, especially the ones on the handle bails.

Hoover Junior 370 - polished alloy

Looks Smart! I've got a number of 370 Juniors and I also haven't seen one in the flesh, which has been polished up like this. My theory is that they weren't polished up like this in the factory and that someone has done this more recently in the machine's history. Of course it's possible, as...

Yard Sale Treasure but Seller Blinded by Delusion

I don't blame you Charles! Some years ago, whilst I was a student back in '91' I took a selection of vacuum cleaners, which I had refurbished, along to car boot sales (or Yard Sales, as you call them). I survived the first boot sale and managed to make a few pounds but realised that the mark-up...

    Mid 1920's Eureka Special

Nice find Dave! I like the old Eureka models and became interested in aquiring one after coming across adverts illustrating them and describing their features. I struggled to find one in the UK and ended up importing two similar machines from America, one of which still has the clip-on brush...

Electrolux vintage model 30 vacuum Oakland Raiders

Good Job! Even if it's not a collector's item, this looks like a nicely restored machine. Unfortunately I'm not into football so the team badges don't really do anything for me. The Lux 30 is certainly a design that I find appealing. Maybe one day I will buy one!

My last two Hoover 63s ready for good homes

I also have one of his restorations! A restored Hoover model 575.

    My New Hoover just in.....

Nice example James! That Swedish Green/Smoked Pine version of the 652A looks to be in very clean original condition for its age. I also like your display in general and especially the Vintage Royal at the back.

    Ancient Eureka model H

Like it Hans! This was mine in use back in 2007, AFAIK it's a later machine.. Didn't the early ones have the bag slide at the bottom of the bag?

    No Sound?

Sound is the main appeal! I'm sure that my main reason for becoming interested in cleaners is due to the sound which they make. I especially like the sound of older Hoover uprights but there are others that run sweetly. In common with many collectors, my interest began at an early age...

1960 Lewyt Power Window Big Wheel

What about Dyson for seeing through? I know that Dyson's don't take paper bags..but even so they allow you to see the dirt, which they pick up,very easily. However, not everyone likes being able to see the dirt, my sister for one!

Thanks Rob! I'd be pleased to see the pictures of the little machine..or any dwarfs using one lol.

    western electric early pic

BTW Cool picture of the Western Electric in action! If anyone sees one of these machines let me know; I'd love to see one in the flesh; also any Sweeper Vacs with the worm-gear drive. Stephen

    western electric early pic

I had one of those! I had one of those Morphy Richards canister cleaners, albeit minus the hose. It was in a kind-of two-tone brown colour. Unfortunately, this machine disappeared when my garage was broken into in 2004. The little Pifco 'Vacette' cleaner is most unusual. I can't even say if...

Crazy eBay prices in Oz as well ...

I've got a few like that! Dustette model 100s are still quite common, even in the original boxes..but I usually only paid between £2 and £10 for mine. Sounds like a real mad dog who's selling that! Stephen

    Eureka Mobile Aire

Sorry, must have forgotton the picture Dryer at close range.. As can be seen, the cable leading into it has deteriorated, as it has on the main cleaner and there are some bare shorted wired sticking out! I'll attend to that later, not plugging it in like that.. Stephen
