Help please. Can someone identify age and model

One thing I'd forgotton about.. was the lack of ventilation on the earlier 700 series machines, which had totally enclosed motors to keep out dust and dirt and hence did not have a cooling fan. When the motors were redesigned to consume more electricity a cooling fan was added on the armature...

Help please. Can someone identify age and model

I have a number.. of 700 series machines, which I have collected over the years. You can tell that this is not a model 700 because it has the later style of external handle ratcheting/locking mechanism as opposed to the tilting bar where the pin locks onto the teeth of the ratchet internally...

UK Halloween Meet - The Cleaners

Nice Vac Trick!! or should that be Vactric? Al, I especially like your yellow Vactric Junior Upright. Whilst not quite on a par with machines such as the Hoover Junior 370 I don't think I've seen one quite so splendid before, though I do have a similar one somewhere with a maroon bag...

    Domestic calamity!

My Gran was terrible.. for taking things like hats back that didn't appeal quite as much once she got them home. Perhaps that's why she did so much shopping at Marks and Spencers.. Stephen

My new baby (Hoover 26 Upright)

Very impressive! That's a beautiful machine Scott! Over here in the uk, we had the model 262, which was similar in many ways. I watch US Ebay from time to time and I've only seen one or two examples of model 26s, which were no where near as nice as yours. The underside in particular made me...

Jim Kirby's Vacuum Collection for Sale

Nice machines! If I lived a little closer, there would be a few machines there of interest to me. As it is I've imported a few to the UK already..but there's one or two in there I'd consider buying if shipping was a possibility.. BTW, sorry to hear that Jim has to get rid of this collection...

Some very lucky person got an Electrolux Model V for peanuts!!

Oh dear! Well I would have bid on it had I noticed but must admit to not searching for Electrolux machines specifically on a regular basis; I'm more of a Hoover guy. However I would go for an early example like that. Strangely enough I was looking at machines online that day and nearly did an...

    Holy grail (for me)

Another pristine find! Congratulations on your new aquisition Alistair! I can see that this one will have a special place in your heart, having memories of a similar model belonging to your aunt many years ago. Though I still think of 1960's stuff as being quite common, having grown up in the...

Found this lovely Convertible (UK) Part Today - Anyone know the model?

Looks like it anyway! Jonathan, it certainly looks like New Old Stock; that's a great find. Some years ago I saw a yellow U5010 on a car boot sale for about £10 and dismissed it at the time, being not all that old/collectable in my book. However, since then I've only seen the very odd one...

Nice find! That looks like new Jonathan! Do you think that it is New Old Stock?..and what else has your friend got? Stephen

    Odd "Hoover"

Oh and BTW.. This was the original 417 in the UK, was it not?

    Odd "Hoover"

I once had one.. I once had one in that colour scheme but it's about the only one I ever saw, either on a car boot sale or market stall. It was put into storage and became another victim of a garage break-in in 2004.

British Members -- can you help me?

Thanks Mark! for posting pictures of the two exclusive machines. It's possible/probable that I've seen them before but this has helped to refresh my memory, cheers! Stephen

British Members -- can you help me?

No problem! I'm pleased that I could help you Bill; it seems as though you have the green and white Junior Deluxe as the false lens, which you describe, was black on the yellow/black version...or else you possibly have one cobbled together from various donor machines, unlikely though that is...

You think those wheels are original?!

Love it!! Charles, I have one of those Packard machines, which I imported from America, to go with my Clements Cadillac with Motor-Driven brush. Whilst this machine does look somewhat daft, with it's non-original front and rear wheels, it's nice to see it with a Genuine, if...

British Members -- can you help me?

Deluxe Dirt Finder Light? As far as I'm aware, the Junior Deluxe Model U2068, which was available either in a yellow/black or green/ivory colour scheme, didn't come with a headlight as original equipment. However, the similar looking earlier Hoover Starlight Junior model U2002 did do. This...

    State of the art!

Cool Cleaner Yes I spotted it too, having first looked at the listing for the rather grotty Electrolux, the next exciting project suggestion for Crevicetool! It looks to be in really good nick & original but would he ship to the UK?...oh really, best not email him; I've already spent a bomb...

Gee...And I've always mistakenly referred to them as 'Coffee Cans'

Model 300 I have one example of model 300, which I've imported from America. It looks quite clean and works well but doesn't appear to have the original bag. At some stage I'd like to aquire models 305, 150, 25, 26, 27 & 28..but then I could get carried away, possibly go for a 61 a 91, a 64..

Vintage Hoover Junior Compact vacuum cleaner U2210

U2210 The U2210 Compact has been quite a popular machine over the years and as other members say, was sold exclusively through Electricity Board showrooms to the best of my knowledge, along with the soft-bag equivalent model U1108 and the earlier version, model U2132(hard-bag with light). Also...
