If the brushroll end caps become too hot it can actually melt some of the plastic that the end caps sit in and allow the brush to sit loosely in those slots and cause some vibration. Happened to one of mine and I had to wrap a small cut piece of electrical tape around the end cap so that it fit...

Try flipping the brushroll, meaning put the current right side of the brush on the left side of the base. It may be unscrewing because the brush is in "backwards", and is spinning the wrong way. This happened to me in my decade 80. I would pull the brushroll out and the endcap was pretty well...
