    'Lux 1205 ...

Royal Power Tank comes home to Daddy!

Thanks for the welcome, Dave! "Yeah right, now we're gonna want every color... " Uh huh. If you're gonna start something, you should finish it right? Not doing so is just plain flaky, and I abhor that trait. The "Royal" crest on mine is indeed raised, as you noted. And I LOVE your "Bulldog...

Royal Power Tank comes home to Daddy!

That's.... ...a blue Royal Power Nozzle. :-) I need to replace the bulb in it, and buff the plastic. I am absolutely in love with the variable suction on the wand handle....'tis electric and adjusts the motor speed in the canister. Totally freakin' cool!

Royal Power Tank comes home to Daddy!

Not a rare red one like Aeolian Dave's -- but a blue Royal 4600 Power Tank! Whoohooo! And I do mean Whoohoo! Royal's were the turning point for me in my vacuum addiction. I've sort of a thing for canisters, even though I've used mostly uprights. Then after seeing Dave's red one with its tool...

    what is this thing?

Well I'll be danged... ....a vacuum indeed! That also precludes using it for pre-treat agitation as it's no doubt a dry vac. Wish I had that puppy when I had my company. Would have been great for between-extraction work. I had (and still have) a Tornado Marathon extractor with a 900RPM...

    what is this thing?

Commercial Grade Pile Lifter It's a commercial grade pile brush for carpeting. Ever been in a less-than-well-kept house and seen cut-pile carpeting that's been tracked down nearly flat? The average home steam clean machine, or vacuum cleaner brushroll doesn't have enough "oomph" to comb it...

    Vacuum for toxic substances

Why your sister said that? I don't know....but I know this... I can vacuum lead and asbestos with my Kirby's, my Hoovers, my Eureka's, my Lewyt...I can even vacuum lead and asbestos with my own lungs and a soda straw. Should I be doing this is the question. And the answer is no. It's not just...

    Vacuum for toxic substances

WHOA! WHOA! WHOA!!! Erik! Robert/Turbomaster is right. Don't even TRY to deal with this. I used to own a janitorial company. Trust me on this. The materials you speak of are considered hazardous. Without the proper "HAZMAT" certifications, you could be in violation of legal statutes by...

Why old kirbys are the best-- test!

"Vacuum Needs" on eBay (username cleaner48). ...I've dealt with Vacuum Needs a number of times, and he is one awesome seller. Definitely the first place to hit when you're looking for parts. John

    NIB Compact.......the gold one!

Very nice Rick! Very nice indeed! And hey, if you don't make it to 87, we'll have you cremated, vacuum up your ashes with it, and stick the vac in the columbarium....how's that? That's the way I want to go. Either in my Electrolux or Royal canister. I'm Episcopalian, so I know the priest will...

    I told you so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This fool is gonna dance where angels dare not tread... ...but folks...remember...the last time we all sqawked about how outrageous a price someone paid for something -- they joined the site! Myself, I was kinda embarrassed. Again, many reasons why someone would pay such a price. And let's...

Why old kirbys are the best-- test!

That depends... ...on the condition of the gasket on the Sani-Emptor, which, after oh, 50 years or so...might be slightly worn! :-) But that isn't what matters. What matters is, does the vacuum look totally cool and retro, and does its motor sound brutishly tough? That's what's important! Who...

Why old kirbys are the best-- test!

Careful now... ...extolling the virtues of anything but a Hoover in these parts will get you beaten as you sweep as you clean. Tsk tsk tsk... Heh....just ribbin' y'all! :-) John

Brandon... ....what Rob said is true... BUT KIRBY'S ARE STILL THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .....running and ducking from all the stuff being thrown at me by the Hooverites.... John

Interesting.... ...coz the lady said it was a replacement bag. And I googled "Stark Vacuum" just for kicks...lo 'n behold came this behemoth vac shop out of Portland OR. Hmmm...now I'm wondering if I should replace the bag with the Royal bag I ordered. The vac does have the Royal Crowns on the...

    Today's find...for FREE

It says... ...Stark -- which is actually the name of a vacuum repair shop, I do believe. There were also a couple of stickers on it that said "Stark Vacuum Repair" 'n such.
