My almost 40 year old Eureka 2081

Handy tip for cord reel machines, leave some slack out to prevent wear on the plug!  I need to go upstairs and do this on my canister machines

My almost 40 year old Eureka 2081

VG1 agitator I thought these originally had a disturbulator but a previous thread indicated some pre-74 TOLs had the VG1 agitator; I first thought the woman had a disturbulator but went to a VG1 when the old brush wore out.

My almost 40 year old Eureka 2081

Last week I was kind of on a Eureka kick and got this out of the attic.  Born 6/28/71, I got this clean specimen the day after it's 38th birthday at an auction in Bellefontaine but without an original boxtop bag.  I found a donor machine, harvested the bag and gave the bag a bath and a new...

    The Beautiful 68 Convertible

I have a drool puddle now on my bed Is that the 68 field coil in the dishwasher and if not, how did you get yours so clean without taking the motor apart?

    How I find old cleaners!

Charles, Auctionzip is an online directory that allows you to search for local consignment/estate/real estate/antique auctions and see a listing and pictures of what's up for bids.  If you can stand waiting for 2-3 even yes 4 hours tops you can score some great machines at a dirt cheap price...

Estate Sale stuff found down the river Feb-March 2011

And knowing me there's a Kenmore involved somewhere Not an estate sale score, just what a $5 check to the Our Redeemer Ladies Guild rummage sale got me (tools are in the lid before you ask)

Estate Sale stuff found down the river Feb-March 2011

Thanks all Derreck's bf Brandon ended up with the green Spirit as it also has cordwinder issues and he was short on his quota of machines to take out of the house. For those who don't know about the quota, every time any of the sweeper people come over to my house my mom has a requirement of 2...

Estate Sale stuff found down the river Feb-March 2011

Metal fan to boot And look how clean that brushroll chamber is, considering it had a full bag when I bought it. I guess the woman used it till it got full then put it downstairs for 30 years as she mostly had hardwood floors and used the daylights out of her Regina Electrikbroom.

Estate Sale stuff found down the river Feb-March 2011

Funny you should mention that Dennis I got yet another 4195 "Venture Custom Convertible" only this time it's an uber early model in the 2000 serial range and look at the base and tell me what's different about it.

Estate Sale stuff found down the river Feb-March 2011

I'm late to the ball on my estate sale stuff as the folks finally went out for a couple hours and I got to sneak my February and March haul in the house. Unlike Fred who *allegedly* has to be dragged to go to sales, I love them and if you go with me your butt better be up and ready to go at...

    While we're talking about Celebrities...

Nice Fred Is that 3195 QS on the shelf a "vaulty" machine by chance? And yay that the forum timelines are finally going to be updated after 5 years.

What is your favorite Hoover Convertible?

Justin, mine is definitely not for sale! What all of a sudden you want a Convertible again after you bid up so many on eBay under many screen names back in 2007?

What is your favorite Hoover Convertible?

Yes Fred, the sale of Marcella Loraine of 725 Gerald, 63031. She had no kids or hubby, but her family had a presale Thanksgiving Eve '09 and I snatched this up for $5 and had the tools to boot. The brush strips on it are replacements but still long and supple.

What is your favorite Hoover Convertible?

Here's my Model 65 One piece handle, well pampered and serviced at the long gone Keady's Appliance in Florissant.

For Brian in KS, my Kenmore Ultra Vac 29459

It was originally meant for briguy, but hey Brian W. thanks! I forgot one more plus - no screws to take the cover off the floor unit, a great thing for someone like me that has umpteen Phillips screwdrivers scattered throughout the house!

For Brian in KS, my Kenmore Ultra Vac 29459

Yay another clue! Kenny, do you remember the price and was this catalog an Appliance Specialog or a sale catalog that came in the newspaper? I have scavenged Newspaper Archive and have not found one ad with this machine. And how would I be able to make a power cord for it to be used as an...

For Brian in KS, my Kenmore Ultra Vac 29459

Running <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The only gripe I have about it is it would've been nice to have a swivel wand on top to let it easily clean under tables and furniture, maybe it does however I had to super...

For Brian in KS, my Kenmore Ultra Vac 29459

Business end This brushroll was unique to this machine only and is essentially a clone of the Quadraflex. The grooves in the brushroll are part of the "anti-cord swallowing system" so if you accidentally run over the cord it won't get all jacked up. Also, Whirlpool had patented a belt...
