    eureka 260

Ive just finished a major clean-up and polish on a eureka 260, but I need to find a few parts if I can. It could use a new brushroll, a two speed switch, and a headlight lens. Hesco doesn't even list this model. Any thoughts/ideas?

You Choose: Eureka Roto-Matic or Hoover Powermatic?

roto-matic Personally, out of the two, I like the roto-matic. I always found that they were a little easier to work on. I have a couple actual eureka roto-matics, (brandywine and the later light blue) and the rainbow/rexair D-2 powerhead with the "woodgrain" top and no height ajustment.

    1984

curb find I picked this up on the curb just last week. A landlord was cleaning out a rental house. I had to repair a split in the hose by the handle, but I have to do that on alot of my older kenmore canisters.

    worst vacuums?

This is NUTS!!! I can say, in all the years I've been messing around with vacuums, I have literally destroyed one vac in my time, deliberatly! It was a dirt devil, swivel glide. Somebody had givin it to me, and I was going to fix it and "donate" it to somebody without a working vac. I worked on...

    First power nozzel invented?

Cole, the canister on the far left(gray/blue) is a 1969, I believe. The second from the left,(avacado green) is a 1972, mid line model. Brian, you are welcome. I actually have 2 sears best canisters in the blue woodgrain! Both 2899's from 1977. One is in pretty good shape. The other is in...

    First power nozzel invented?

Douglas, does your 22520 powermate have the height adjuster? I believe I have the same model tucked away. It was an economy model.

    First power nozzel invented?

forgot about that Kenmore had a white 12 inch powermate. As I remember, the white was supposed to be for the central vacs! In my opinion, the 12 inch powermate and the later 14 inch were some of the best power nozzles made. As for the OOOO, that was the powermate logo till 1981 or 82.

forgot to mention The blue you are referring to is alot darker. Like this one. (3rd from left)

    First power nozzel invented?

Kenmore blue Sandy, you are correct. If I remember right, this blue powermate was from 1968/69 to 1973, I think. Avacado debuted in 72 I believe

    curb rescue

runs like a top! The rug nozzle was put on crooked, so it wasnt making enough contact with the switch to push it down!

    Your favorite modern canister

Favorite modern I don't usually venture over to the contemperary side much, but I had to put my 2 cents worth in. I'm a canister "nut". I will take a canister over an upright any day. At one time or another,I've owned just about every american brand of canister made. I've owned filter queen...
