New Collector - Pre-electric vacuum cleaners

LOL It's a "labor of love" There is just something about taking a beat up, nasty looking, dirty old vacuum, and making it look as close to new looking as you can get it. I really do understand the mentality of the classic car owner! LOL

    Current canister vacuums

well....... I have to agree with tolivac. I use both. Like Sandy, I vacuum EVERYTHING, but, running the risk of starting WW III, I'm going to add this. Lux's are for looks. Now I know that they are an american "classic", just like the hoover convertible. I own several of each, but if you want...

    Sanitaire Sc886 Vs. Kirby Sentra

Trebor I also would love to see a pic of the sanitaire modified. This is the only "problem" I've ever encountered with mine. It has 6 settings. Low, normal and high. Deep, medium and low shag settings. High is just a little too high, and normal is just a little too low

    OMFG!!!

DJ this might not be a bad deal, especially if you are in DSM. I was looking at that myself, especially since beverdale is just "down" the street from me. (live by MH mall)

    Sanitaire Sc886 Vs. Kirby Sentra

my 2 cents I've been a kirby lover for many years, and own several. My G5 and G6 are both equipped with sentria brushrolls, and I thought, for grooming/cleaning, they couldn't be beat, but.....my old sanitaire S648B with a 6.5 motor and a VGII, out cleans and out grooms the kirby hands down...

Which vacuum brand is the most reliable/reputable?

just my 2 cents worth alot of the older machines are pretty reliable with care, but, just because they are still running as good as new, doesn't mean they were good carpet cleaners when they were new. For a good carpet cleaning upright, eureka/sanitaire, kirby, and royal are "tops" in my book.

Battle of the Eureka Brush Rolls: Disturbulator, VG-I, VG-II, VG-III

re....which brushroll not always a VG. I have a beautiful 1974 eureka "vanguard" cordaway, original "squaretop" bag, and original "rugulator" brushroll. This machine was TOL for eureka uprights in 74, and, I believe the vibragroomer came along in 72, I think. At least the VG1 did.

    tag sale find

picked up this eureka "vactronic" last week at a sale. This is in really good condition except for missing the two back "legs" and the bare floor tool. This one might be up for ebay or trading

    Vintage Vacuums you LUST AFTER!!!!

lust after......well..... you can never have too many 60's/70's eureka uprights or 70's kenmore "woodys" lol, but what I really want is a couple of pairs of SQUARE end caps and the retainer screws for a 12 inch vibra groomer II. I've looked everywhere, and I just can't find them. If anybody...
