    The Homely Lux Model T

I had a Thrift Model T, which I got in a bunch of trade-ins, for several years. Then I learned how much Electroluxes meant to club member, and fellow board member, Rick Benedikt, and how he wanted a Thrift Model T. So I put it in a box, and sent it to him. People do nice things for me like this...

what is a good price for a lux hose

Be careful that they're not dried out and leak air. A braided hose can look beautiful but not be airtight. This is OK if being used only for display. In my store I sell a replacement vinyl hose, virtually identical to original Electrolux (which we can't get) for $69.98. It is my understanding...

Just added another Rainbow to my Collection

Morgan, Nice SE! And with a RainbowMate, too. In my store I sell rebuilt SE's like yours, with a RainbowMate for $800.00, so it's a valuable machine too. We're starting to get quite a few of them traded in on e2's because people like the idea of using the machine as an air purifier 24/7, so they...

    88 air-way

And Air-Way still builds their cleaners the way they always have. In fact I was talking about that on the phone this morning with Steve Tomberlin, the President of Air-Way Sanitizor, Inc.

    Hoover Vault in North Canton

The Vault was truly the highlight of the '94 VCCC Convention, the second such convention I attended, having been to the one at Alex Taber's home the year before. It would be terrific if we could see it again. If it is going to be broken up, it would be great if we could (along with the general...

    Question on Filter Queen models

Shouldn't be any difference in power. Filter Queen doesn't make their own motor, they buy them "off the shelf" from Ametek/Lamb, and all those models use the same motor.

    Sanitaire SC782/SC785

Excellent choice. I stock the 782 (household) and can easily get the 785 (commercial). The only difference between the two is the color of the machine and the cord. The 782 is my biggest selling upright in my store. I'll be glad to help you. Clay

    Parts, I need Parts!!!

Star For Parts are a bunch of CROOKS. I was one of their first customers when Mel Beitscher started wholesaling a few parts out of his vac shop, Star Vacuum. Years later Mel retired and sold the business to some people in New York. They altered a check I wrote them, and we ended up in court. I...

    electrolux lite!

It is a Regina. Electrolux briefly owned Regina. The purchase and divestiture of Regina nearly ruined Electrolux. During that brief time they marketed the Regina Electrik Broom as the Lux Lite, and sold Regina's hand vac as an Electrolux.

A wonderful day in St. Louis

This is not a new find. It is the same place that Jimmy Martin got a GE 111 some time back.

    Rainbow Model R-1650

I operate an Authorized Rainbow Service Center, and have for many years. Let me clarify the Power Nozzle info. When the D3A was introduced in June, 1980, Rexair did not yet make their own Power Nozzle, and continued to use the Power Nozzle they bought from Eureka. This Power Nozzle was...

HOOVER MODEL 90 AND IT'S MANY DESCENDANTS.

Those were great, indestructible old machines! I once heard that the unions wouldn't let women use them because of the weight. No wonder. It takes 3 men and a donkey, or one medium sized bull dyke to operate it.

Guys! guys! look what I found!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was called the Pro Series, and was part of a line of Royal products which were really Dirt Devils, but for sale thru vac shops only. The Dirt Devil hand vac, usually seen in red, was a part of this group of models, as well as a Can Vac, and that miserable upright which used the C bag, and...

    Thane H20 vac

It's a cheaply made piece of junk trying to capitalize on the enormous popularity of the Rainbow. Kind of like an old beat-up Yugo trying to pass itself off as a new S-Class Mercedes. You could drive either down to the 7-11, but that's where the similarity ends.

    hoover rebristled brushes

The armature is the part of the motor which rotates. The commutator is the part of the armature with which the carbon brushes make contact, the part with the copper segments, toward the end of the armature. Hence, a commutator is a part of the armature assembly. Also, in the "old days"...

    Elektrapure Canister Vac

I sold a few ElektraPure canisters. They are indeed good machines. HMI (manufacturer of Filter Queen) acquired the right to the product when they bought a European factory. This explains why they equipped it with the same Power Nozzle they had used on earlier Filter Queens and Princesses...

    hoover rebristled brushes

Rebristled brush rolls and inserts for all makes and models used to be a staple of the industry. Rewound armatures were pretty much the same. Vac shop owners would send their worn brush rolls and inserts, as well as burnt out armatures, to the various parts wholesalers (many of whom are still...

    model 1 norca by hoover

I don't know if I can give you as specific an answer as you are looking for, but here is some helpful information. The Norca was considered a separate brand from the Hoover, and sold by non-Hoover dealers. I'm not exactly clear who these would have been. Essentially the Norca Model 1 was a...

    The Hoover Z

I can understand why collectors like us would want this machine. It is certainly unique. But I couldn't imagine actually using such a monstrosity, as a customer would. Am I missing something?

    Let's Talk Miele

I too was rather impressed with the Miele, when I got to play with them at the December St. Louis mini-meet. Both Andy W. and an unnamed exiled member are Miele dealers, and both provided them for our enjoyment. The unnamed exiled member just sent me a new Miele, at no cost (we often give each...
