    60's Kirby

Photo 3. The hard floor "Power Polisher". Looks mint. I think the box also contains some massage cups, wheel pads, and maybe the Crystallator.

    60's Kirby

Photo of Dual 50 with accessories. As you can see, the main motor body needs cleaning and polishing, but it's generally in excellent shape.

    60's Kirby

It's a Dual Sanitronic "50" The vacuum is in pretty good shape. Bag is clean with no tears, handle spring works fine, motor is loud but sounds like it's in good shape (no rattling or vibration that would indicate bad bearings). There are a lot of accessories, including the warranty and...

    60's Kirby

I got some photos of it in email today, and am planning on picking up the vac tomorrow. It looks to be in very good condition, but the aluminum probably needs some TLC/polishing. Plus the various accessories (several boxes of them) look to be mint and very shiny. I'll post the photos after the...

    60's Kirby

I will flip when I get to see it. Right now I'm still waiting for the "invitation" to come to come see it. The price is very reasonable so I'll probably buy it unless it's in really bad shape. Plus it comes with a lot of accessories including shampooer which is nice. I have a classic 3 and yes...

    60's Kirby

Hi, I'm looking into a 60's Kirby with a "beige" cloth bag. Lots of accessories. Anyone have any advice? Was a paper filter bag adapter available for 60's Kirbies?

Need Rec. for a new upright...

Eureka True Hepa bagged upright. Consistently given excellent reviews in Consumer Reports, as well as a "Best Buy" rating. I've seen it discounted to $100 from the usual $149, but even $149 is a reasonable price. The commercial version is very similar to the true HEPA Sanitaire version, and I...

    Advice Needed-Canister Vacuums For Allergies

I once had a cat who was so into water she once jumped into the bathtub with me. Fortunately she didn't freak out and I lived to tell the tale. :-)

    Bagged vs. Bagless

I got my D2 at Target, as I recall, but all the chains seem to carry them. It's a very pretty vacuum in its metallic red paint job (although the paint has been nicked in a few places from bumping into things). The orange shag had seen better days when I moved in there in the mid-80's. It would...

    Bagged vs. Bagless

It's a test that's been repeated many times by vacuum cleaner salesmen. But I thought I'd compare my two newest vacuums, to see if one is able to pick up more dirt after the other has cleaned a carpet. First I vacuumed the bedroom carpet (thick carved wool) with the Eureka Commerical Bagged...

    Advice Needed-Canister Vacuums For Allergies

The ionic types of air cleaners consistently get panned by CR, which says they are not worth much at all in terms of cleaning room air. For a vacuum cleaner, I agree, a sealed HEPA type of cleaner is the way to go for allergies. If you're on a tight budget, look at the Eureka sealed HEPA...

    Best vacuum for hard floors

Linoleum and Wax... "Linoleum Care Armstrong advises that the floor be regularly swept clean or vacuumed clean. When dirty, it should be damp mopped with a gentle detergent. The company recommends its own liquid cleaner. Ammonia-based cleaners or any product with a high pH can damage Linoleum...

    Filteraire vs. Filtrete Vacuum Bags

Thanks for your input, Swingette. For what it's worth, I've vacuumed several times with the original Filteraire bag in the Commercial, and have not noticed any decrease in suction. I did peek inside the bag and saw plenty of fine dust clinging to the inner walls. Is that allowed? ;-) Next...

    Best vacuum for hard floors

I prefer to use a good broom and dustpan in the kitchen. It is not flummoxed by the occasional macaroni or other solid object. I wonder why your linoleum is so hard to keep clean? Have you washed and waxed it? A good coat of high quality wax will help it repel dirt and stains. Even so called...

    Filteraire vs. Filtrete Vacuum Bags

My-ellie, Thanks much for explaining the difference between Filteraire and Filtrete. I use Filtrete furnace filters and they are great, so it's not a big surprise that vacuum bags made of the material perform good as well. I haven't noticed (after about four uses) the Filteraire bag in the...

    All about cyclonic dust collection

Doing some research on cyclonic dust collection. These systems have been in use in industry, apparently for some time now. I won't comment on just how Dyson may have done anything unique in this regard, but I did find an interesting web site that explains a lot about cyclonic dust collection...

    Home made cyclonic bagged vacuum.

And a HEPA exhaust filter will catch... ...what the cyclone and the bag misses (which can be considerable!)

    Buy American

At Least, Buy North American? My Eureka Commercial True Hepa C5712A is "assembled in Mexico". Well, at least it's closer than Shanghai. It also works vrey well.
