Bison Vacuum Cleaner Salesman tells his story

Its a good read. Good humor too, esp the bottom of page 45.

    Not sure.......

While its a good machine, I think they're inferior to the newer ones when it comes to ease of use. I'm thinking this machine would have a more commercial feel to it. If that's what your after, then fine, but it won't feel nearly as refined as your newer red model. My dream power tank is the...

I Need Info on dd droom vac

The belt pulley should be threaded on, so you just remove that. I grip the plastic fan to get it started, and it should come off easy after that. Then the fan just pops off. Pretty simple.

Last call to claim some crappy old vacuums

For some of that stuff, I'd have you just toss it in a box any which way and take my chances. I'm not as picky about packing material as you, and for the opportunity to get one of these rarer cleaners it would be worth the risk. I have yet to have a true horror story yet. I bet most of those...

    Kirby 561

"For some reason these models just don't age too well" Black trim, black bag, and the surprise of just seeing a pre 505 cleaner make them age better. Black just hides the flaws. Dirt on red or green or tan trim is far more obvious. The Classic series, well, I have no purely logical reason for...

    Kirby 561

From time to time someone will post a picture like Fred has done, and it reminds me why people like Kirbys as much as they do. After seeing the dozens of average, tarnished, mismatched examples that are all over the internet, I guess I have started to loose interest in the brand. When something...

    American Electrolux or European Electrolux

To my knowledge, American and Canadian lux models have been unrelated (from a business angle) to the Euro models since the buyout by Consolidated Foods, which was sometime around the late 1960s. The modern Aerus is decended from that line. The red Electrolux models are from the Euro line, which...

Gray Dirt Devil broom vac?! Link please!!! I've seen green and blue but never gray! I know of one gray hand vac model too, but have never actually seen one. I think the earliest of these came from the late 1980s. Its cool that the machine end hose connector is compatible with the hand vac tool...

    Expensive

There is just so much wrong with that listing, I'm not even going to list it all. Just so totally wrong from top to bottom.

    SEBO Felix

Oh, I just had another thought. Do these remind anyone of the old Regina Broom Vacs? They had so many varieties, I can't imagine anyone could account for all of them. The cool bag patterns just bring those to mind.

    SEBO Felix

I must agree that the Windsor model is very attractive. My distant second choice would be the Sebo on the far right. Now, how does the dirt flow through these? I thought for a second that the dirt might be pushed through the hose, and into the bag, but this would make the hose unusable. And...

    The Rest of the Pictures

Jim, do you mind listing your 35 variants. I guess you must have added more since I talked to you a few years ago. I know my list of missing models is far from complete, and chances are I've seen some that you don't have yet, so we should compare notes.

CUSTOMERS LOVE THE BAGLESS KIRBY CONVERSION

Its quite obvious that I was working towards an example. What I'm really trying to get at is a bagless Kirby is not a bad concept. Does the Keeler design have problems, sure, but the concept is not without purpose, and even in its current state has its uses.

CUSTOMERS LOVE THE BAGLESS KIRBY CONVERSION

"Who cares if it is "high end" or low end? (irrelevant)." A high end cleaner will outlast its competition. Just look at how many refurbished Dysons you can find on the internet, and even through Dyson itself. I'd assume you could find a horror story behind nearly every one of them, or they...

CUSTOMERS LOVE THE BAGLESS KIRBY CONVERSION

"Overly complex Kirby....nozzle, fan, bag, motor......all them complex partz names just makes my head spin! How can a Kirby be overly complex? They've used a very similar design for decades, with the biggest changes being disposable bag systems and adding the TechDrive. And they're not stupid...

CUSTOMERS LOVE THE BAGLESS KIRBY CONVERSION

Rolls_rapide: I clearly understand the idea of a cyclonic bagless system. What Mr. Keeler designed was more like a Shop Vac than anything else. Its great if you have substantial dense partials to pick up, and drastically decreases in performance with finer materials. What is original about...

CUSTOMERS LOVE THE BAGLESS KIRBY CONVERSION

"I responded to Keeler in the same tone he posted in. Read his first post and the posts that followed. He was clearly trying to sell his product to us and was not open to anyone's opinion on it. Had he given us some REAL information about the product and accepted that it does have it's flaws (as...

CUSTOMERS LOVE THE BAGLESS KIRBY CONVERSION

"The IEC Standard figures I ‘threw out’ have nothing to do with Dyson at all, aside from the fact that they examine the performance of bagless cleaners. They were actually commissioned and published by Hoover for their UK ‘Airvolution’ multi-cyclonic range. So I’m not trying to deceive or...

CUSTOMERS LOVE THE BAGLESS KIRBY CONVERSION

I don't see what Mr. Keeler said as being intentionally patronising, and actually as an attempt to be kind. Instead, everyone reads things into it and uses it to further their argument against this man. With the "door stop" stuff, if I included the entire post my point would still stand. It was...

CUSTOMERS LOVE THE BAGLESS KIRBY CONVERSION

Its too bad really, that so many of us collectors are closed minded when presented with new ideas. The very first thing that is stated in this thread is attacking the capitol letters. Not every one is up to speed on the internet, and the unwritten rules that govern it, and given the context of...
