Measuring Motor Speed and Sound Power Levels of Our Favorite Vacs

Intersting points.... Just another reason old Electroli and Hoovers are still in regular use! I truly hate 'loud anything!' Rick

Mint 1954 Hoover Constellation Model 82

Dolly This dolly did come from Hoover as an 'option' and came in a brown corrugated box with 'Hoover' printed in blue all over it, as I recall. Kyle Mathews awesome collection includes the first one I had ever seen first hand and still in its box! Rick

Whats your quietest and loudest vacuum?

Wonderful 84 & 85, Dave! Those are both gorgeous machines, Dave. To respond to the theme of the thread, my quietest are the Hoover 543 upright (whisper-quiet as Jack mentioned!) and of course the Lux 30 and Lux G. Rick

    a very CHALLENGING sutuation.......

"... due to the bag of this item drying." You mean you washed the bag? Of the vacuum?? Really? RB

My new baby (Hoover 26 Upright)

Of course it is important to recognize, ....machines of this quality are only released to homes that meet strict safety guidlines; homes where the environment is deemed Hoover friendly, protective, hygenic, and nuturing, and where it is believed said machine will thrive. I am happy to report...

The universe is groaning over this incomprehensible tragedy

" I'd rather be warned" Good point. Unquestionably, Charles' knowledge and available time to search Ebay can serve to avoid grave disappointments. Perhaps the warning could be left on The Forum, thus benefiting collectors without the insults sellers clearly feel. Rick B

The universe is groaning over this incomprehensible tragedy

"Man's desire to make everything as idiot proof as p Here, Here! None of us wish to see a piece of history destroyed or compromised, but in all fairness, the seller would have had no way to know or believe she was going to hurt the bag and her honesty and integrity is evident in her disclosure...

Like taking candy from a baby....

The VCCC Smack Down! You need a film crew! Bill, If you are volunteering,YOU ARE HIRED!!! This needs to be documented, running mascara and all! (as Charles affirmed, too.) I was tempted to bring my Lux XXX, just to add insult to injury (her ego), but I probably will leave well enough alone...

Like taking candy from a baby....

"....or you might have to provide dinner..." Fred, my Mamma didn't raise no dummy! The terms were strictly spelled out as "Suction Only." Had cleaning been the issue, I would ahve antied up with a HOOVER Upright! Alex, I am sorry you got ripped off by anyone; that always sucks (no pun...

Like taking candy from a baby....

go for the Chicken Picatta... I just may do that! (I was concerned, reading your handle, that I might have offended you or another Kirby lover. The certainly do have their place!) Rick

Like taking candy from a baby....

So, during a discussion occasioned by my loaning an extra Lux 1205 to my neighbor's husband for remodeling work he was doing on his late father's house (just around the corner), his pleasant but rather foolish wife was bragging about her beloved Kirby and how much more suction(she believed) it...

    At last.................

Hoover 541 Congratulations, Walter. The 541 is a great machine to have in your collection. I have its cousin, the 543 and love having it as a good representation of the advances Hoover made over other brands. Enjoy it! Rick

Gee...And I've always mistakenly referred to them as 'Coffee Cans'

300 Bag Hi Stephen The 300 bag is unique to this machine in that it has a rather large green logo on it (about 4 inches) on a dark background/field that matches the unique logo on the top center of the coffee can hood/dome (derby hat!) On the logo, it states: THE HOOOVER IT BEATS AS IT...

a new Hoover to brighten my spirits

Gee...And I've always mistakenly referred to them as 'Coffee Cans'

the last Yes, the last of which I am aware, at least in the US. And it was indeed replaced by the 'modernistic' 305 which had an even longer run (5 years vs 4 for the 300)and carrying the Henry Dreyfuss design of the post-war higher end models 27 and 28. (I love the inscription of 'HOOVER' on...

OOPS, forgot to ad link (for above) AH....That's better. http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-ANTIQUE-HOOVER-VACUUM-SWEEPER-DERBY-HAT-300-/110565822627?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Vacuum&hash=item19be3c90a3

Gee...And I've always mistakenly referred to them as 'Coffee Cans'

I am guessing (apparently) the band has been repainted and the Green Logo surgically removed. Still, perhaps a nice original machine to restore. These were kind of a stand-alone model in so many ways.(paint, plug, 'dirt-finder + positive agitation' in an 'economy priced' full-sized cleaner!) Rick
