    Toured Riccar and Simplicity

Ten years was a very good run for the vacuum museum. It was a bit controversial from the business side, since the museum displayed vacuums from competing brands. I was a little surprised that Tom was allowed to display relatively recent models from competitors like Dyson, Kirby, Rainbow, Hyla...

The most frustrating vacuum video on Youtube.

I'm not convinced that the Kirby vs Dyson test is fair, since the Kirby was also used to pick the winner. I say this because you don't really know how much dirt was missed by each vacuum. you only know that the Kirby picked up less dirt on the Kirby side than the Dyson side. You would need to...

    New Simplicity S20EZM

So what's the story about the New Simplicity S20EZM? It looks like a fairly nice vacuum with a MSRP of $269.99 but with a 1 year warranty. Is it made in the US? I guess it uses stretch belts?

The most frustrating vacuum video on Youtube.

Assuming the central vac is installed properly and is not clogged or leaking, it likely works very well. However, many are very leaky or partially clogged, or have hose problems and have little suction/air flow. The Dyson could easily beat those. In real life, there are a lot of lousy central...

I have Rainbow Rep coming to my house

Mark said: "But can't the same thing be said for a clothes dryer? Isn't it take air from inside the home and venting it outside?" Yes it is true. There are heatpump and condenser dryers that are not vented to avoid this problem. They are popular in Europe because they are more energy...

I have Rainbow Rep coming to my house

Just making up numbers, let's suppose the central vacuum has 100 cubic feet of air per minute (i.e. 100 cfm). If the central vacuum is venting outside, is it fair to assume that after 15 minutes of vacuuming that 15*100=1500 cubic feet of conditioned air is blown out of the house? The...

I have Rainbow Rep coming to my house

Regarding central vacuums and filtering outside, how do you avoid the loss of conditioned air? If your house is extremely tight (i.e. minimal air leakage), does that cause any problems with central vacuums?

    Fantom Technologies Inc (UPDATE 4)

Just a suggestion. Don't try to do everything yourself. Where possible make it a collaborative effort and recruit others to help. Online collaborations are common in almost all fields. As for perfection, don't waste your time. Start with version 1 and go from there as needed. Videos can...

    Recommended Carpet Vacuum? Current Model.

It would be foolish not to consider the amazing Rainbow vacuum if money is no option. Sure it might cost significantly more than a built in (i.e. central) vacuum, but it uses water to cleanse the dirt from the air. It also allows you to perfume the air with household scents. You would have...

Internet censorship the new Tacony product!

"Mr. John got pooh in his pants when he heard you were a collector. Marketers know collectors are the thought leaders and can make or break a brand. Their story may change. They'll probably mail you their top of the line product as a peace offering." Maybe they'll deliver the top of the line...

Question about Miele C3 basic dual nozzle? What to answer.

You should offer to buy her a new rag rug if your budget permits. Or if you find her attractive, you could offer to take her to lunch or dinner to make up for it. You have some responsibility to make it up to the girl, since you pressured her into buying the Miele. You should show her what...

Your boss is right. The video is awful. It in no way resembles an objective review.

Kirby - Researching to buy my first Kirby

While Kirby's are wonderful vacuums, the Simplicity Freedoms and Riccar 9-pound vacuums have a lot of advantages if are are just going to use the vacuum to clean carpeting and rugs. http://simplicityvac.com/uprights/direct-air-freedom

Eureka airspeed 1000 no base suction

you might try youtube for help. I found the following link. Is that the vacuum that you have to turn the red dial to go from hose suction to nozzle suction? If so, you may just need to rotate the dial. I don't have one, so I'm just guessing. http://https//www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt-4fvpexlY

    New Hoover Line-up

It's sad when a formerly innovative company like Hoover has to resort to copying products of other companies.

    Current Upright Carpet Cleaners

The Bissell Big Green Clean machine is a very nice machine. It was designed to better the Rug Doctor. I've been impressed with mine. It seems to really dig out the dirt. I like the Bissell chemicals too, particularly the one for pet urine elimination.

Shark Rotator vs Kirby Gsix What went wrong?

I'm debating whether it is fair to use the Shark to "determine" the winner in the end, given that the Shark was also being tested.

Shark Rotator vs Kirby Gsix What went wrong?

You might want to tape off the rug to make a more narrow test strip to better control the area being tested. I may be wrong, but the path you vacuumed with the Kirby seemed to be more narrow than the path you cleaned when you followed up with the Shark. The Kirby never had the opportunity to...
