    Hoover Convertible 66

Hi Rick, Yeah, I read "rugsucker's post right after I bought it. Thanks for putting the loose ends together for me though. According to thread # 11425 - And Now.....THE CONVERTIBLE LIST!!!!!!!, by kirbyvertibles in Kansas, the 1958 models had the bag spring and the 1960 models introduced the...

    Hoover Convertible 66

All better now. Here she is looking much better. The other things that concern me are - this vac seems to have less suction than my 36 that I found at a second hand shop this summer. Could it be that the bag fill tube, which is narrower on the end to allow for the connection of the blower...

    Hoover Convertible 66

Well, I don't have a Hoover grease gun and our local vac shop didn't have one. I thought that to be stupid. Hmm.... There's one near Scranton and there's one in Minneapolis but those are too far away. What to do? Hardware store and some ingenuity. Fantastic.

    Hoover Convertible 66

This concerns me a bit. The coil on this field laminate has overheated in the past. It seems to work fine though. I wonder what caused this? Could it have been run for too long of a period with the attachments on that caused this burning. There is no arcing on the armature. I haven't ran the...

Here's the outer bag and cord getting treatment with Meguiar's Natural Shine Protectant. I couldn't find Vinylex anywhere. All everyone had was the leather treatment products from Lexol. I hope this is as good of quality as Vinylex. What do you guys think? I treated the bag repeately and put it...

    Hoover Convertible 66

I got this in the mail a week ago today. I spent about 24 hours total working on her. The lady that sold her claimed she was in very good condition, which is true for the most part, but I don't imagine she is a collector or connoisseur of vintage vacs. I have a couple of issues with the machine...

Hoovers, Hoovers, & let's see, MORE HOOVERS!

Austin, We came across the same vacuum at almost the same time. I'd like to come across some more Convertibles again, but I don't see them very often. The ones on ebay are overprices and screwed up. B. http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?25435_7~1

    Kirby Sentria

I found a Kirby Sentria at a second hand shop today. I checked it over and it seems to be in good working order. Runs well and sounds good. Tech drive works well. Fan is smooth - no nicks. Cord is good and so is brush roll. No scratches, just dirty. Needs a good cleaning and some polishing. I...

    What's Wrong with this Convertible?

I wasn't going to buy it. I was just interested about its quirks.

    What's Wrong with this Convertible?

And where did that white hood come from? Is that a generic replacement?

Wasn't the font on the original bag different, John?

    What's Wrong with this Convertible?

It's got a white hood and the bag holder has been replaced. They claim it's in very good condition but it has these problems and it's rusty on the bottom. I might be interested but not at that price with those problems. Do you guys agree...

    Convertible A, B, C and Promotional Models

I've been studying different threads and can't seem to come up with an answer. If there's an explanation and someone knows the answer I would appreciate it. One would think that there would be a rhyme or reason for these different lines but I can't find it. I understand how promotional lines...

    Orbital Sander on Kirby Restoration

Hi Bill, It might work well with a heavy grade emory paper working down to a lighter grade before buffing. Just a guess. I doubt it will pick up metal dust too well though. B.

    Nothing says 1968 like...

I saw that Sanitronic setting in a store window in the late '70's or early '80's. It made me stop in my tracks.
