    Kirby classic 111

Here are the CL Pics. This is a "one owner" Kirby. Small rip in upper part of the bag. Mother of the person selling it used it until very recently when she moved to a hard floor home. Time to sell, they said. Supposed to have a new belt. No idea what those tools are. I'll check it out...

    Voltage and older Vacuums

Simply shocking Looking at the guts of my Hoover 105, I have no doubt that it'll handle 110v-125v. It's simple. No computers. No chips. Old world heavy construction. I'd have to think that voltage regulation is a whole lot better than it was 80 years ago.

Hoover 105, 700, 725 or "I can stop at any time"

Hehehe. Okay. A place! Yes, that's the one. I look at "chicago" as all encompassing of the dozens of cities that make up suburbs. Apologies to those that would be offended. THe second 700 is also missing the detachable bottom plate that is normally in place when you are not using the...

    this year's convention

I'm confused Okay - so I'm really confused. I'm a newbie, so please give me a pass on this. "Convention" refers to the VCCC or the Vacuum Collectors Group event, or...both? I might be able to attend something. Just trying to get me ducks in a row.

Hoover 105, 700, 725 or "I can stop at any time"

Wow. Nice 750 That headlight assembly is COOL. Polished casting looks great. Do you have any idea how long the cord is supposed to be? None of my cords are original, so I suspect that they'll be various lengths. To clarify for anyone interested: I need the metal piece that attaches to the...

Hoover 105, 700, 725 or "I can stop at any time"

So in the past two months, I have gone from having no vintage vacuums to four. All Hoovers. My first was a previously posted Hoover 105. It's going through a nuts and bolts cleaning and rehab. Last week, I followed up on some languaishing Craigslist ads over 30 days old. One in Madison -...

Funniest lie told by a DTD salesman...

How to get rid of a vacuum salesperson in 1 minute Me: "I won't use electric vacuum cleaners, Mr Salesperson. Did you know that the CIA TAPS into the electronics of those devices? There is a top secret FREQUENCY added to your 120 volt line. Your vacuum sends CODED SIGNALS back to CIA...

    Cordless vacuum advice

Thank you! I really appreciate your thoughts. I have a large rider carpet sweeper as well as a Tennant S8 batttery sweeper. I like the idea of the Simplicity for smaller office areas. That leaves a high dusting area for the trusses. The stated 20 minute run times of most cordless vacuums...

    new to me Hoover 105

slow deconstruction Learned some things about my 105. The housing was repainted - probably when the unti was rebuilt. I'm stripping off all paint as corrosion has pitted a number of spots. The cast aluminum is not remotely smooth. Instead of trying to polish it out, I'll find a suitable...

    Cordless vacuum advice

Backpack is not an option Backpacks are great for cleaning staff that are flexible in using them. Mine are not. Gotta pick my battles. I'll never win that. Sooo - If it were a choice for a Shark Rocket, Hoover Cruise, Pure Clean cyclone, Dyson V6 or other similar offering - what's the...

    Cordless vacuum advice

I'm faced with the reality of buying a cordless vacuum. I have a new construction area to clean that has limited electrical outlets, and a "modern industrial office" look. Exposed metal roof trusses (10 feet high), industrial type hanging light fixtures, open staircases that are hard to get...

    Commercial vacuums

Raped on rebuilds To overhaul a Windsor VSP upright properly - replace all wear parts - you'll spend $411 (ish) retail not including labor. That's unreal. After about 3 years, vacuum flow losses (case not sealing), upright lock (cheap plastic), brushes (last 6 months TOPS), are enough to...

    Commercial vacuums

Hi all, I thought that I would throw in my experience with commercial use vacuums over the past 20 years. The vast majority of the time has been a mix of Windsor uprights that I did not have purchasing control over. VS1/3 - mid 90's VS14 - 2000's VSP14 - 2010's In short, I hated all of them...

    Kirby as air purifier

Indoor Air Quality I have 7.5 years of environmental services quality control management in large hospital settings. I've helped get manufacturing clean rooms in compliance with particulate problems. I've written cleaning procedures for surgical room "sterile zone" areas. Here is the good...
