I'm not brave. I'm an ass. I'm the one that owes everyone an apology. I can't make things change. I shouldn't be digging up a history that sparks so many emotions. Many of you have known each other for decades. I have no right to judge. What gets me down is bickering. In a perfect...

So why can't VCCC and VL combine resources Yup, I probably shouldn't have asked that. I just don't understand what is the purpose of having two get togethers just weeks apart. If VCCC starts a new forum, how would it be an improvement over VL? Is that value added to the collectors, or just...

THE CONTEST WAS RIGGED So the first three ribbons were for non-Kirby vacuums? I'm sure glad that I started my vintage vac hobby with Hoovers! Should I pitch my Classic III and Tradition because they stand no chance in a contest? I'm so sad.

Strength in numbers Great points. VL has open resources to attract new members. VCCC does not. That should not be considered a political statement. It's about how you survive as a hobby forum. I might have 15 years left to enjoy my hobby. After that, my treasures will be relegated to...

Accessibility Googling old vacuums invariably brings up VL articles. How cool, I thought, in my earliest interest. I joined because I was able to access resources without financial obligation. I became an upgraded member to support the forum. I did get to the point of signing up at the VCCC...

I am a bit dumbfounded why the GE motor thread turned into a saber rattling, rock throwing, accusatory discussion. I started this thread to at least match a discussion that matched the "subject" line. I'm a "new" old vacuum collector. The advice here has been invaluable to my growing interest...

Another baby on the way, decided to sell my whole vintage collection.

Congratulations! Back 20+ years ago, having a regular delivery cost $7,000. I had to sell my first Harley to pay the bill. Then I bought another Harley. Sold that for child number two. Bought another Harley. Sold that for number three. That was my last child...and my last Harley. :(...

    Kirby classic 111

Thanks. Ordered it. That brushroll cost 50% more than the Tradition I picked up. I'm sure it'll work well.

It beats as it sweeps...oops wrong vacuum Can someone help me with what the updated ball bearing brush part number would be? Is this the same as would be used on the G models?

Classic with disposable bag Well, I cleaned up the brushroll which had a ton of lonnnng hair wrapped around everything. Changed the cracked belt with a new correct non ribbed one. Replaced the torn bag with a heritage disposable set up. Adjusted the brush depth to 1/16". Clicked height to...

    Kirby - Do I or don't I.

I picked up a bunch of stuff today for the classic III. I posted pics of them on thread of my classic III. I now have a great classic III bag and a paper filter heritage bag. I could not figure out the classic 1CR. It sort of looked like an Omega.

    Kirby - Do I or don't I.

Ahhh. I didn't recognize the rug renovators. The omega looks pretty beat. Thanks. I'll pass.

    Kirby - Do I or don't I.

Here are a couple vacs that I left behind. Any thoughts on them? Both are supposed to be running but didn't test. The heritage can be had for about $40. No idea on the other machine.

    Kirby classic 111

Blue is the new red (Kirby) It has a metal fan, and appears to be in decent shape poking around with a flashlight. The safety switch is not in the headlight housing. It's in the same spot as my classic III. The owner got the Tradition from a friend. He replaced the belt, bought bags, and...

    Kirby classic 111

Found a Kirby bag with a vacuum attached I thought that it would be nice to change out my classic III tired bag with a newer style bag that takes disposables. The conversion is not cheap for eBay offerings. I browsed Craigslist and found the perfect conversion with an entire vacuum attached...

    Someone Please Help Me!!!!!!!

Where's the battery? I can imagine somebody got rid of it because they couldn't find the charger port for the non-existent battery. "What do you mean this has no battery?"

    Kirby classic 111

At first blush I can tell the belt is slipping. Looks like I gotta replace. What's the wisdom for the best fit? The brushroll appears okay. Is there an adjustment to bring the brushroll higher or lower in the frame? The best part of today was that my wife came along when I looked at the...

    Kirby classic 111

I'm a Kirby owner! Owner had a $35 offer before me. I ran it on their plush carpet. Pushed a little hard, and there was a little side to side play in the pivot point of the handle. Motor sounded good - no funny noises, and not loud. Rug renovator, floor tools, and manual were in good shape...
