A local vacuum shop continues on.

It's nice that they still have enough business to support the store! Yay!

    Hoover Commercial Porta Power

Your PortaPower was manufactured in April of 1995, based on the first four digits of your serial number. Hoover went to the orange cleaners sometime in the mid-late 80s, I believe (to distinguish it as a commercial machine), even though the only difference was the color and the heavier cord...

    POD

I have wondered the same thing too, perhaps early models had it -- using up leftover stock? I'll have to take picture of it later when I'm at home, but I have a service manual leaflet for the model 86 has that same picture on the front of it, with the wheeled rug nozzle.

    A blast from my past!

Wow Morgan! Wonderful happy ending to the story, that machine looks absolutely MINT! I've never seen a Princess that looks like that, with that body style and the try that holds the attachments inside. Very cool!

    Windtunnel non SP BRUSHROLL vibration

The nozzzle housing that the brushroll sits in could also be cracked or worn, allowing the brushroll to vibrate excessively. It's less likely, but could still be part of the problem. I'd just recommend replacing the entire brushroll instead of the bearings alone.

    Electrolux LX

Alex - what is the story with the cutaway Lux? Was that from Electrolux, as a demo, or did you make the cutaway yourself? Do you still have it?

Jeff Koons Vacuums at the Whitney Museum NYC

You beat me to making a thread about this!! We went to see it on 9/13; there was a line around the side of the building to get in, although it was Columbus day. We had gone to NY for a wedding and spent a few days in the city. This was on the top of my list, and I'm so glad I was able to see...

    Hoover PowerMax Parts

All of the parts you list above are interchangeable between the C1/C2 and PowerMax, with exception of the brushroll. Hoover went from a steel brushroll to a plastic brushroll during the early run of the PowerMax. If you use an earlier steel brushroll, it will work, but you then need a...

    My Scrapyard Electrolux G Present!

...they have a recoil spring that needs to be rewound. Oh, then this cord winder will be easy for you to take off and service if need-be! Love your chainsaws! Very cool collection! :-) Thanks Dan! Yeah, lots of pieces, screws, etc... that's one of the things that I love about the G though...

    My Scrapyard Electrolux G Present!

That Lux has a lot of potential! I'm not 100% sure, but I think the Tan G came out in 1967? The Turquoise G came out in 1960, then in 1962 they moved the PN plug to the side and moved the front wheels back slightly. I recently rebuilt an early Turquoise G for a freind of mine. It was my...

    Non paying Ebay buyer

I think there's also an option available to you to "walk away" from the transaction, essentially -- where neither of you get bad feedback, and you either don't pay a fee, or get the fee back. I had it happen to me when I sold an iPhone. Someone bought it and then emailed me right away that...

    the Hooverette

That's a fun cleaner - looks like it will clean up nicely. I wish that the version we had in the US had the same removable handle/wand configuration; it would have made for a much more practical cleaner at the time.

Kenmore Canister find at the sales today

Desert Tortoise Ok, can we not turn my thread about my new Kenmore into a pissing match about?   Do you even believe for a minute that ANYONE left at Sears (the hot crumbling mess that they are) knows ANYTHING about products that were produced 30+ years ago!?  Give me a break!  I think...

Kenmore Canister find at the sales today

Thanks!   Nope, not from a collector.. Just an estate sale.  Everything in the house was remarkably clean and in near perfect shape.  She also had 2 SP Hoover Windtunnels elsewhere in the house that I didn't even give a second look to; already have one.. I may go back to the sale tomorrow...

Kenmore Canister find at the sales today

Also found this GE. It's been repainted (took me a bit to realize that, as it was done really well). Nice little machine!

Kenmore Canister find at the sales today

At one of the estate sales this morning, I was waylaid in the kitchen, looking at Corningware. Robert beat me to the basement, and when I got to the bottom of the stairs, he told me to follow him. That's usually a decent sign. Lol! We meandered through the laundry room and this Kenmore...

    Electrolux hose ID?

I was going through some hoses last night and pulled this one out. I'm not sure when or where I got it, but it's a color and pattern that I don't recall seeing before. Is it genuine Lux, and if so, which model is it for? Lux experts? The hose itself is shot, and has some creases in it...
