    Hoover Convertible Motor Troubleshooting

Can you post any pictures of the machine? How about a model number? Have you tried completely rebuilding the motor instead of hypothesizing about what's wrong? That's what I do with most all of my machines, and they all run very nicely.

Vintage Photo: Central Vacuum Service, St. Petersburg Florida

And being in the mortgage industry - I know my way around a county tax assessor's website. LOL. I found another query about older sales - looks like the building sold in 1992 and 1996 as well - rather, deeds were processed. I suppose that doesn't mean that the business in the building went...

This picture, too, popped up when I did a google image search of the address.

Well, then, not "long gone" I guess. :-) It is sad, and happens all too frequently.

Vintage Photo: Central Vacuum Service, St. Petersburg Florida

Photos like this are cool; I love looking to see what the place looks like in current day. Most often, the buildings aren't there, or are something completely different. Pulling up that address, it looks like the vacuum store is long gone and there have been some modifications to the building...

700 and an old GE upright.

Nice Hoover, Brandon! From what I can tell, that bag looks like it's from a model 26; which was in production from 1938-1941. I'm surprised that you got that bag wet; I'm always so careful with those old original bags - they see water and tend to shrink. I'd also be scared that the graphic...

    Convertible brush strip question

There are brush strips that, when looking at them from their end will curve to the left or to the right, respectively. I believe the 012998BZ curve to the left, and the 160646BZ curve to the right, and are also called "reverse helix". I'm pretty sure all of the red and white brush strips are of...

    Hooer Concept One U3101-006

The U3101 was blue in the US - picture below which I just grabbed from the net. Hoover did export and sell this cleaner elsewhere in the world.. I'm not entirely sure how wide the distribution channel was, but I'm pretty sure that this cleaner went to the UK, and most likely Australia, in this...

Hoover Knowledge?? - Which Hoover is worth restoring?

The 800 is probably the most beautiful Hoover the company ever produced, next to the 150. The 800 would get my vote. Fred

Thrift store find of a lifetime!

Thanks everyone! I got it initially wiped down, bag cleaned out, headlight changed and a genuine Hoover replacement plug on it.. The bag strap is missing, hence the white string, I think I have an extra handle that I can use for parts to repair it and have it working again. Can't wait to fully...

Thrift store find of a lifetime!

There's thrift store I don't go to all that often, in North East Minneapolis... It's a bit out of the way. I usually go after I get a haircut, as that's in the general vicinity of this thrift sore. I haven't ever really found much when I've gone, but today I spotted a bag from across the store...

Hoover 634 finally came home with me!

I also found this cool tidbit which is from the Hoover "Newsy News" - employee newsletter. No clue where I got it, but it was saved in the 634 folder of my computer. Only the one page, cool no less! Phyllis from billing says it's a beauty and a bargain! Ugh, love those curtains!

Hoover 634 finally came home with me!

That's a gorgeous machine, congratulations! I found some pictures of mine - I've had it for at least 10 years now; someone brought it in to the store where I used to work and no longer wanted it, tools and all. I about wet my pants.

Hoover Concept I in Mint Green

Nice Concepts! I found this U4205 at a thrift store last night - marked at $19.99, but with my "club card" on Thursdays, it gets me 25% off.  It's pretty dirty, but in very nice shape overall.  I'll put it in line to get a teardown, for sure.  It's funny - I was looking at this thread just the...

Rainbow E2 Black Teardown and Restoration

Ugh, that's beautiful - congratulations on scoring such a neat machine. Nice restoration as well. I do that with any machine I bring home and want to put into use - I have enough awaiting restoration that I could retire tomorrow and never run out of things to work on. LOL I've been wanting a...
