    "Bagless" Kirby Classic III

Shipping Costs.... The price for the cleaner isn't bad (if it had attachments or something with it), but the shipping is a killer! $40?! What are they shipping? Depleted Uranium?!?!

Installed my new kevlar fan on my Kirby Classic and really need an question answered

The "bearing" you slid on was actually a spacer and "slinger" to isolate the shaft from the seal. You did install the rubber seal right? The sound with the kevlar fan will be much different than the metal fan. The metal fan is MUCH quieter, and has sort of a grumble to it. The Kevlar fan will...

    Hoover Anniversary canister has arrived!

Quiet! Too bad I can't say the same for my TriStar......sounds like the space shuttle at liftoff! Although now that I have all the filters for it now it sounds MUCH quieter than it did before... I forgive it though.......does such a fantastic job cleaning the carpet!

Not another one...Found a Panasonic Purple MV

If it is just the plug that gets hot, then it has what's called a "hot connection" (hence the heat) in the cord probably where the wires are bonded to the metal prongs. If the entire cord is getting hot, it means that the motor is pulling excessive current. Either way it's bad. If the plug has a...

    Hoover Airvolution Microsite

Duh? Pulled a duh......had I looked at your profile FIRST I'd have seen that your B-Day is on the 12th......now I know 6 people with my Birthday! I keep forgetting you're in the UK and 6 hours ahead. The forum clock still says 9/11 here in Hickville :-)

    Hoover Airvolution Microsite

Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday Jack! I'm assuming the Hoover is gonna be a B-Day present to yourself? I know so many people with September 11th birthdays it's crazy. Especially since mine's tomorrow! I know about 5 people with my birthday too, so it's gonna be a busy phone day tomorrow!

    Eureka Question

Sleeve Bearings... ONLY use oil on sleeve bearings. Using grease will destroy them! The sleeve bearing material is made of a porous bronze material and will soak up the oil. As the bearing dries, more oil will come out of the bronze and keep a very thin film of oil between the bearing material...

Calling Electroluxxxx..... Mike, I fired an email in your direction, but never heard back. Did it make the trip?

    my ebay posting

Can't speak for everyone else.... but what you have for sale isn't anything I'm looking for. I do have a Futura on my list of things to find, but I'm looking for the all-brown one w/cordwinder and black powerhead (sentimental reasons).

    Proper Hose for Electrolux AE?

True......although out here in the sticks we usually just tune into an internet stream of whatever we want to listen to. Higher fidelity too! That and our metal building at work is a virtual "black hole" for any sort of radio signal......even cell phones (which is a GOOD thing when you're at work!)

    Bottom plate gasket on Convertible

If you can't find an original replacement, do the same thing Sanitaire does on theirs: Use a tube of butyl rubber (or latex caulk works too). Cut a small tip off the tube and squirt a new one. Let it cure, then reassemble.

    Proper Hose for Electrolux AE?

AM Radio My thoughts precisely! I mean it was a nice touch for them to include it back when Dinosaurs walked the earth, but come on....nobody else's machines had it, so do we REALLY need it today? I clipped mine off the terminal leads when I reassembled it from greasing the bearings and fixing...

Matsushita Matsushita is the parent company of Panasonic...You're correct. Sometimes they also go by Matshita....go figure?!

    Proper Hose for Electrolux AE?

I'm sold on Electrolux.... I'm totally sold on Electrolux now. I've never had one before, but after fixing up the motor in this one, I'm impressed! After cleaning all the fluff out, repacking the bearings with high-quality grease, and fixing a broken motor mount, this thing has about the same...

    Proper Hose for Electrolux AE?

Charles's Model E You posted before I could finish my reply! BEAUTIFUL machine Charles! I'm jealous! Mine's in what I'd call "good" condition, but not excellent. With some cleaning, it should look great! I doubt I'll find an original hose, and I'll probably wind up using a replacement. I think...

    Proper Hose for Electrolux AE?

EMI Suppression Capacitor. I've yanked this machine apart to clean it out (smells like mothballs) and the EMI suppression capacitor on the back of the motor has apparently swollen and exploded at some point! Anyone know of a source for a replacement, or is it better just to cut it out of the...

    Proper Hose for Electrolux AE?

Our secretary is my NEW BEST FRIEND! I brought in the motor for my Classic Omega to replace the bearings (we have a bearing puller in our shop) a while back, and she asked what I was doing with it. Of course I told her I was restoring the vac. I also casually mentioned in passing conversation...

    The September Chronicles of Sarnia

Oh sweet, a Futura! We had a TOL beige one in the early 90's with the cord winder and had it for something like 15 years until my IDIOT sister decided it was time to vacuum out her SUV.........without a bag!!!! That pretty much ended its career.... I LOVED that vac......so quiet and powerful...

Need advice on how to install a Kirby fan

Take the power nozzle off. Remove the rear motor housing. If it is a 1-CR, it'll just have 3 screws. If it is a 1-CB or later, it'll have 3 screws, one on the bottom behind the rear wheels, and 1 on top under the plastic cover around the switch. Remove the front fan cover (One screw under the...
