    ORECK

I believe vacuum cleaner consumers equate the bagless concept with "maintenance free" which of course is a major fallacy. However, the "ease of use" advertising rather implies this idea. As many of us here know, this is why so many bagless vacs go into the trash without their filters ever...

JC Penney "2 Two Motor Upright Vacuum"

It won't be going into my collection; maybe someone else's. It's not what I'm particularly interested in. Someone who pines for private-branded equipment likely will get it eventually. I've had a number of JCP and Monkey Ward items that have been re-homed to such collectors.

JC Penney "2 Two Motor Upright Vacuum"

Brian: I've meant to mention that one of my grandmothers was born in Salina, KS. The rest of her siblings were born in western Iowa. We had some extended family members in Solomon, KS, near Salina. One of my grandmother's half-sisters and her issue. Could be my GM was born in KS during a...

JC Penney "2 Two Motor Upright Vacuum"

It has a brushroll in the floor nozzle. It's put together a lot like an older Eureka canister nozzle in the way the brushroll is made.

JC Penney "2 Two Motor Upright Vacuum"

I don't know for sure, but the floor nozzle arrangement seems to allow for quick detachment. That suggests to me that fixed attachments could then be attached to the stick and the machine might be used in a different mode.

JC Penney "2 Two Motor Upright Vacuum"

This strange bird came my way recently. It's a JC Penney (model) 2880. The front of the machine says it's a "2 Two Motor Upright Vacuum." The bag inside says it's a Bissell 5890 bag, for the Bissell Models 5850 and 5900. I suspect this machine is incomplete. The "2" in the name suggests...

    Need help identifying vintage Kirby

Back to the original post. You said, "It's new in the box and may have been used at some point." It's either new or used, not both. That distinction right there will make a big difference in potential selling price. The mere fact that it's in a box doesn't necessarily make it new. Unusued...

Got A Free Hoover T Series

That particular vac shop apparently decided they couldn't make any money on it. Around here, vac shops get a lot of machines on an more or less free basis. (1) People bring them in for repairs and abandon them when given a quote for the work needed, (2) Sometimes vac shops will allow a...

    Auto bulbs in my Kirby

Twelve volts are twelve volts, I don't know how using an automotive bulb in a vacuum would hurt it. I've got a few hundred automotive bulbs (6 volt, 12 volt, 24 volt), and the last time I needed a Kirby bulb, I just went to those and found a direct replacement that worked fine. You just have...

    Salvaging plastic parts - example w/ WT2

I should clarify those pictures. #2 is a view taken from above the frame (or the "top"), not the bottom. #3 and #4 show the well or cavity directly below the area shown in #2, and these are taken from the bottom.
